I don't know, Illuminator, it all seems a bit extreme to me  :-\.  If it was intended it seems to have back-fired, it looks like too many players are upset by it.

Are you sure EA did not want it to be like this and add a little spice to your traveller's live?

Absolutely not. No way. This Egyptian guy is a game wrecker. To be honest I'm scared to death of the Surrounded by Family challenge I'm throwing together in a month where family members will be required to "mix it up" with foreigners. It could be devastating in a tourney situation if things happened that are completely unplanned. Having a nectar machine break down is one thing. Returning to Sunset Valley and finding out you've had some immaculate conception is another! It's so much of a concern to me for that particular event that I honestly think I'll have to delay it until this is addressed by EA.

Metro, I guess you're right. I hope EA will repair this soon...

I never frequent the official EA forums. Does anyone know if there's a bonafide list of bugs that are due to be fixed somewhere at that site? I'd like to keep tabs on this issue.

Yeah Metro, it could definitely throw a monkey wrench into a challenge if sims are running around having extra kids show up just because they meet this guy. I haven't yet had it happen in France or China......so I can't really speak to those places. But someone on here said there's a guy like this in every location? That's a scary thought! Do we have an identity on those guys yet so I can be sure to stay away from them?

Just for kicks I fired up a new game with the idea of meeting this guy face to face, or possibly in the case of the woman I created — body to body. I created a woman, friendly, charismatic, family oriented, hopeless romantic, the whole nine yards — no one would be able to resist this woman. She was on the phone and in Egypt quickly. I tracked down the Hawas family and made a beeline for Sekhmet. Within 3 hours of meeting this guy Socials for going steady became available. And I later learned that he's an Elder. That's kind of creepy. Well, long story short, there was no shortage of Woo Hoo for Sekhmet. My character actually proposed to him and they married and traveled back to Sunset Valley. But, no immaculate conception. I don't know what to say at this point. I never did "try for baby" obviously because that wouldn't prove anything if she got pregnant.

Metro, the bug is not about wohoo/marrying and bringing the guy home. The bug is about saying hi, coming back home, and finding out your sim magically procreated and married without your knowledge.
I think i saw something like this over maty, lemme see if i can dig it out.

Yeah, be specific about what the bug really is and I'll try and reproduce it (no pun intended).

Yeah Metro....when it happened to my sim, she had only met him and had brief conversations. He was the Special Merchant during that particular game and so she did buy things from him. She went about her business, went home, went back to Egypt at a later date and found out that she was married to him and had a son by him.

Digging in maty it seems to be a known EA bug, it's also somewhat random, as loading from before the trip and repeating the trip can magically fix it.

So.. if you ever make your sim travel, save before traveling and check that none of your skills or family trees or anything got borked on the town transition.

I have seen this guy also in Egypt and he wasn't a merchant, thank heavens.

I think there is a bug like this in every location.  My little guy had a friend in China, the elderly lady, something Yat Sen.  When he went back to China, upon arrival his mood bar dropped to red from "Witnessing Death" and had 2 day bad moodlet.  Funny thing is, his name immediately changed to Gabriel Yat Sen and he has a daughter, youth, in his relationship panel. :o  That's just too lame!  Basically I just ignored it kept him busy with tomb exploration until he could get home and then I did a name change.  I just ignored the "daughter" tag in the relationship panel cause he is definitely not the father!

What really steamed me was, in his family tree, it shows her picture as being married to him with the daughter as spawned by them, but the old lady's picture isn't greyed out, like she is still alive. :o  This really boinked up his family tree.  Now it's going to be messed up for when he truly finds a wife and starts a family. :(

Yeah Metro, there's a "bug list" on sims 3 site under the WA section, right at the beginning of the section.  It's about a bazillion pages long. :P

Recommendation: save before traveling to any of the wa locations, if your sim is ninja-married and turned into dad/mother, load your save before the travel and try again. It is a known WA bug that happens when transferring the sim from home to the vacation location.

Apparently this can happen with any foreigner.  My female sim recently just discovered a daughter she never knew about, but the father was some other dude that hasn't been mentioned yet here and whom she never woo hoo'd with.

Yeah TGBlank, I usually save before a vacation but unfortunately this time I didn't.  I never had this happen before, so I must have thought in the back of my mind, not gonna happen to me. :P  Lesson learned! ::)

Ok, instead of going on vacation, I invited a romantic interest to visit my girl.  He never did stay the night, but, she ended up getting pregnant and they never did anything while he was there, because I was not ready to have any more  babies, it sort of messed things up.  He was the merchant in France, Albert Fouchier.  I had not had any problem with him in regards with unknown children, so I thought it might be safe to have him visit, boy was I wrong.  So, I guess it works both ways, immaculate conception of the weird kind, LOL.  I, myself have a few unknown kids and had to change her name back.  I have one in Egypt and China, so I guess that left France.  So be careful inviting foreigners.

Nope, that is the strange thing about the whole thing, the option never came up to woohoo even, and she didn't get pregnant until three days after he left.  Well, I can say this, never a dull moment with this game.  If that is the worst that can happen, I will take getting pregnant over crashes any day.  I looked in the babies family tree, seems this guy has been busy at home too, I think he 5 other kids in France and no wife, go figure.

Pam (and all other challenge players), with this new information from Saltypaws I am seriously considering completely changing the format of the Surrounded by Family challenge. Even if an unfortunate mishap happens to only one or two players it's completely unfair to those that escape unplanned pregnancies. It just might be safer to keep it similar like the original Baby Boomer until EA can finally address these magical pregnancies and fix it once and for all. I really like the idea of the mixed heritage theme of Surrounded by Family, but this bug is just too scary and could be devastating in a challenge.

I usually plan for pregnancies, but this really threw me.  So I guess it is safe to say, no visitors either, at least if you do not want to get pregnant.  I usually don't do this, but I just aged this one up to adult and am going to have the guy move out, and boy, he is the spitting image of his dad, so that makes it easier.
