Sim doesn't have option to fish anymore

So even though this sim has been fishing almost everyother day recently, he suddenly isn't given the option to fish or even inspect the water. His wife is able to though. I'm confused 

Anyone know why this could be happening to him?

I've heard that an item in your inventory could be bugged, causing you to not be able to fish. Try moving all his items to his wife, then testing to see if one or both of them can fish. Then, move each item one by one to the guy again, and see which one could be bugged.

You could also try resetting your Sim. It might work.

I've also heard that having a Deathflower in inventory will cause the fishing to get bugged.  If you've got a Deathflower, remove it.

Hmmm...interesting. he did harvest a deathflower a while ago. But I think he's been fishing since he's harvested it. I'll try to remove it from his inventory and see what happens -along with most other stuff in the inventory just in case.

From my experience both a Death Flower in the inventory and sometimes a bad fish can cause that issue. Clear your inventory out and restart your game should give you the ability back.

Yeah, I'll give that a try but the weird thing is that the wife too has deathflower in her inventory and she can still fish but whatever I'll get him fishing soon!

I've found this was caused by having special seeds in your inventory.  My wife and I both ran into this issue and getting rid of the special seeds cured it (it also cures the issue with not being able to interact with the market...)

I had this happen when my level 10 fisher turned elderly status, which disappointed me, because I had planned to have him retire and fish for deathfish in the indoor pond I had stocked for him (Angler and Hates Outdoors - dang random legacy traits).

For me the problem resolved itself one day after work (science lab), when he started fishing automatically in the pond behind the lab.  

Maybe if you try changing to work clothing or putting them in a situation where they might fish unprompted it may fix itself.  I dunno, but I know that resetting the sim didn't work for me.  

I think my sim was unable to fish for 3ish days...hard to tell, though.

Hi Two and welcome to our Forum!  Thanks for the suggestion.  If it happens again, also check your inventory to see if you have any seeds or a Death Flower.  I believe those items can also cause problems for fishing.
