Getting so sick of this challenge. >.<

What do you guys use to motivate you? I'm only on week 8 and I'm already considering cashing in and never doing another challenge.

Maybe challenges just aren't your thing. They're supposed to be hard.  That's why they're called challenges.  :)

So when will Astarte and Lu Yan be moving onto Mount Olympus?  ;)

Whoa. Let's back up right there. Zeus and Hera are still the deed holders to Mount Olympus. Everyone else needs to rent. But, the bad news is Astarte and Lu Yan dropped off their sandels at Zeus and Hera's place for repair. Oh, how embarrasing that it came to this.

Way to keep up the energy in here!  ??? Sheesh. I mean, Pam's right. It's called a challenge for a reason. Yes, this one in particular can be a bit monotonous with the repetitive activities, but that's also what you have to do to maximize your Sims profit potential — they literally become machines only to serve your higher purpose.

Seriously, if you're not having fun, by all means, bow out and let me know. They're supposed to be hard, but it's a game. Not a burden.

Tedious isn't the same as hard ;) I'm on week 13 and I'm getting to the point of not caring anymore. The maths part was fun and the planning/strategising but the actual doing is quite dull once you've got a good rhythm going. Cashing in would be a bad move though, even if you never make another bottle of nectar again, the value of the ones you've got is still appreciating. Most of your score actually comes from the earlier weeks. If I'd managed a full load in week 5, that'd be worth about 1.5 million by the end of the challenge

I almost turned in during weeks 8,9 and 10. I kept going by because I realized that just letting the game run to the end of the time would earn me more. Then I told myself to take it one week at a time. These smaller goals allowed me to keep going. Take it slow, and good luck!

Try taking a break from nectar making. I still have a few different saved games and because we have plenty of time for the challenges, I step away from this one from time to time and play one of my 'fun' games. In those ones, if they want to play under the sprinkler for 3 hours in the middle of the night, then so be it.
The challenge is a bit tedious, but I still think it's fun and I like playing in a way that I probably wouldn't consider if it was just up to me.

That's a good idea, Norma.  Nobody says you have to play a challenge non-stop until it's finished.  Take a break if you need to and come back refreshed!

That's what I've been doing. At the beginning around week 3 when I realized it would be the same actions over and over it got a little overwhelming. So I just made a lot of smaller goals along the way. Sometimes I'll say just get to week #, or try and beat my record of bottles made in one day, or reach a certain dollar goal. It definitely helps! And taking breaks help. Especially because I find that when I have been playing for a long time I start to get lazy and then I'm not doing as well as I could.

Overall though I'd say its been a really fun challenge! And before this I hadn't really tried out nectar making and I hadn't planted any of the special seeds. It has definitely let me explore different parts of the game! I'm not done yet, but I think I should finish tomorrow. I don't think I'm pulling out a winning score, but I've already passed what I thought I would... so I'm happy with it. :)

Sorry I was a bit short last night, it was 3am and the superbowl finished earlier than I expected so my boyfriend wanted to go to bed. Part of me wants to do it again, to see how well I could do if I didn't mess up the gardening in the middle but another part of me never wants to see another bottle of nectar again heh.
It was tough going, especially trying to squeeze it in such a short time (about 14 hours over 3 days), week 5-7 it was going well, I was getting into a rhythm, I was really excited about getting a good score then I had a gardening miscalculation  (or more specifically, I looked at my calculations and said, nah, that can't be right, lol and ignored them) and it took til week 10 to bring it back around, then by week 12 I just wanted it to be over.

I did find a neat bug though with the racks, I'm sure other people have found it too - normally you can only stack 2 racks on top of each other but if you make  stack of 2 and pick it up by the bottom rack you can stack it on top of another 1 - in fact I found you could do this indefinitely, just keep picking up the stack putting it on top of a single rack, it clips through the floor but I don't think there's a limit to how high you could go. I might build a pyramid of nectar racks with all my empty ones now its over.

Looking forward to the next challenge, should be a breeze in comparison.

This was actually noted in another thread a couple days ago.

Nice! Isn't that the best promotion you can get? What do you have to do to get that promotion?

Finished! My final score is 4,946,930. When I first started I honestly was question hitting the million mark (I kind of forgot about the interest that builds) and my big goal was 3 million. So I'm really please with how I did! It was also the most money I've ever made in a family!

I think I'm going to keep playing that family. They'll adopt a child to keep their legacy going and I'll let them all play in the sprinklers as much as they want!

...- in fact I found you could do this indefinitely, just keep picking up the stack putting it on top of a single rack, it clips through the floor but I don't think there's a limit to how high you could go.

I actually tested this, and the game limited me to a 16-rack stack.  I posted a screenshot in the Wierd Pics thread.

I've got my sims underway on their nectar-making mission: twin brothers Tepoztecatl and Colhuatzincat Totochtin (not Mayahuel, as originally planned; if you're curious, look up "pulque" and "centzon totochtin" in wikipedia or about.com).  I hope I'm not being too picky about certain details of my stil-nebulous strategy...

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. Yeah, I played my other family for a while. I think I'll play them 'till I get sick of playing too many people and just switch back and finish up. :D

You've got plenty of time, e.  Just spread it out by playing only a few days at a time (or an hour of gameplay, etc.) and you should be alright.  Heck, even play other computer/video games, if you have them!  Whenever I get a mild overdose of TS3, I play D2:LoD.

Eftyen I get strange looks when I play D2X(D2:LoD) with my touch pad. And unfortunately I left the game in one of my brothers computers last time my family got together.
