I know the rules say we're not allowed to use the Moodlet Manager, but is it OK if I get one and immediately sell it so I can raise cash?

Also, could you please add me to the leader board? I thought I stated my intent to participate, but looking back at my post I realize I didn't specifically request to be added.

I'm finally finished. My total amount of nectar sold was §4,826,871. After making over 3300 bottles of nectar I don't think I ever want to make nectar again. I probably won't do any gardening for a while either. (I guess that rules out the Science career in the Grand Slam Challenge.)

Hey Metro, as of right now, I'm officially pulling out of this challenge for a couple of reasons. One, I honestly don't think I have the time to do it. Two, I'm already rushing to get the Perfectly Happy Challenge done, and that's leaving me sims-burned out. Three, I don't think I'm skilled enough, or lucky enough, for this challenge, nor do I have any type of strategy. I will do the Handiness challenge, and the Career challenge, but not the nectar challenge. Sorry. :(

No problem, jmz. Thanks for the heads up. Just give me a shout if you want to be put back on the leaderboard. There's still almost a month left.

I am back home from the hospital. The surgery was ok, although bringing both a stomach bug and a cold with a bad cough with me was a less than brilliant idea. I suspect my daughter gave me both of those just before I left, since they have had colds and stomach bugs by the dozens in her kindergarten lately. Anyway, I survived, and thanks to the doctors, I have three different kinds of prescription only painkillers to keep pain on a tolerable level (and me feeling up in the clouds most of the day). I finally managed to play my Sims again yesterday and today for a bit, and have advanced the nectar challenge to week 9. I have got a routine in gardening and nectar making now, but I am afraid it took me too much time to get there. I will try to find time to finish the challenge in the next few days, although there is a 4th birthday here next week that I have to prepare for, too :) .

ik, I'm glad you're feeling better. Just a heads up to you or whoever ends up winning Perfectly Happy — expect a few questions from me immediately after the event closes (via PM), so I can get a little info to begin the Hall of Fame section.

Just discovered the tournament - gutted that I found it too late to do the Perfectly Happy challenge  :(

I was tempted to try and do it but with barely 48 hours until the end I think that would be impossible. So please could you add me to the leaderboard for this one?

Yeah, that's an unfortunate reality if there is to be any kind of meaningful ranking system based on event finishes. There has to be a closing date.

You bet. Welcome to the forums and good luck.

Metro - If we fall just short of the end date, can we sell our nectar and post the result from that but also have something on the chart like DNF (Did Not Finish) ??? I am week five still, so I am dedicating this week to nectar making!

Carl's Nectar Making Guide led me to this forum and this challenge intrigued me enough to sign up!  Spruce and Ivy Waine feel they are up to the challenge, though I don't think I plan on winning the challenge, that 8 Million is a *huge* number.

So, wish me luck, I think I can get the requisite play time in before the deadline.  Oh, and nice little corner of the internet you folks have created here.

That's fine. If a DNF would stroke your ego a little I can do that. But, it obviously won't change your ranking. You'd still fall wherever you need to be at the end.

I've enjoyed reading this thread a lot, there have been a lot of laughs out loud on the train (especially your comment, Metro, about father knows best). I'm a little undecided about this challenge. It doesn't look like good fun to me, but would decidedly enable a steep learning curve - which is why I looked here in the first place. I'm so sad to see the post that horkslair made about the variables has gone and completely agree that it is for everyone to see. Maybe after the careers challenge I'll see if I want to do this one.

I think this one is the most grueling challenge so far.  It's not easy, for sure, but it's pretty satisfying when you finish.  :)

Well, given that this is over in 3 weeks, I'd recommend you do this before anything else. I agree with Pam in that it can be a little grueling and tedious. But, once you get your system down and everything is like a well-oiled machine, it's hardly difficult. You're basically doing the same thing — day in and day out. Now if you want hard, wait till you read the Baby Boomer II rule set. I absolutely had to make that one 50 days. If that were 100 days, players would be calling for my head.

I have no problem with routine, it just puts me off when my Sims get restless in their "need to advance" moodlet and want to spoil the routine.

And as for Baby Boomer II, I'm steering well clear of it ;D I'm not ready for more than 4 children and the 4 I'm playing with now are driving me crazy. I can't leave the game unpaused for very long

Ha ha. Well, you're honest and that's a good thing. One of my concerns about participants in Baby Boomer II is forgetting to change the game length when they play that file every time. That file must be played at Normal length or it will royally screw things up. And then you'd have to remember to change back to Long if you're juggling another challenge at the same time. That's why ideally you'd want to start BB II with other challenges already finished. I'm actually going to put a sticky right on my monitor that I can't help but see.

I am probably just being daft at the moment but, does the game have Sunday as the first day of the week? Because right now I am week 5, day 6 and it is Thursday? So does the challenge end on Week 15, Sunday Night/Monday Morning?

The Challenge ends at 12am Day 2 which is Monday. So, as soon as the clock turns from Day 1 to Day 2 — i.e. Sunday to Monday — you're done.

Day 6 should be Friday, not Thursday. Not sure what's going on in your game.

Shouldn't the challenge end at 11:59 PM Monday Week 15 Day2? That would be 14 full weeks X 7 days per week = 98 days + 2 more days in Week 15 = 100 days.
