Mad Max Skillz Marathon: Cheaters Welcome

Goal
Have you ever wished you could skill a Sim in a challenge with complete access to killer cheats like Make Needs Static and Buydebug? Well, dream no more my cheating friend because Metro’s Magic 8 Ball says “You May Rely On It.”

General Challenge Rules
The General Challenge Rules always apply. If applicable, exceptions will be noted below.

Specific Challenge Rules
  • Create 1 Young Adult Sim.
  • In addition to the building cheats allowed in the General Rules, the two cheats allowed for this event are Make Needs Static and Buydebug. You have unlimited use of Make Needs Static and restricted use of Buydebug. All other cheats are banned.
  • You are only allowed one item from the Buydebug cheat after you have completed a skill challenge. You would need to complete another skill challenge to gain access to another Buydebug item.
  • The only items available in Buydebug are: Martial Arts training objects, Cameras, the Nectar Making machine, and one World Adventure general store treasure chest.
  • You are not allowed to add to the household.
  • No vampires allowed.
  • No vacations allowed.
  • This challenge concludes at the end of 10 weeks (Week 10, Day 7, 11:59 PM).

Scoring

Maxed Skills — At the conclusion of the challenge, pause your game and take a look at your notes. Any maxed skill = 1000 points.

Skill Points — For any skill that is not maxed give yourself 50 points per skill level.

Challenges — Everyone begins with a Challenges multiplier of 1.00. Completing Skill Challenges adds 5% (.05) to the multiplier. Important: You can add to the multiplier by completing the various Collecting and Consignment challenges — just remember that those two skills are not true skills that can be maxed.

Total — Add up your Maxed Skills and your Skill Points and then multiply by the Challenges.

Let’s go through an example: The challenge comes to an end and you pause your game. At that point you have maxed 13 skills. You have 5 other non-maxed skills with 30 total skill points. Finally, you were able to complete 15 skill challenges.

13 maxed skills = 13000
30 skill points in non-maxed skills = 1500
15 skill challenges X .05 = .75. Final multiplier = 1.00 + .75 = 1.75.

Total = (13000 + 1500) X 1.75 = 25375

I suppose. But, given what you're primary goals are in this event I would think that players would only have their eyes on key objects.

My thanks to BellaClo for her PM. She gently prompted me to reconsider the unlimited use of Buydebug. Indeed there are good reasons to not do that. So, I edited the rules and made it so that you only can get access to one item after a skill challenge has been accomplished. Also, there is a small list of items that you have access too — not every item in Buydebug is available.

Now, given vacations are banned I want to make sure everyone has access to all items necessary to do the skilling they'll need to do, so let me know if more items are needed on the Buydebug list. Thanks, guys.

I sent you a PM for same reasons, too. Only skill building objects not availabe in home town are from WA, so I don't see a reason for more items (except to make us even happier).
I really like this one. Last year skilling challenge encouraged me to join the forum, so this is a nice reminiscence.

hmm, got me curious now as to what items in buydebug has caused this restriction.... I feel a brain worm coming on ;)

Well, for example you could just plant 30 money trees or a ton of life fruit plants and harvest those in a matter of hours and max gardening. You could put spawners in your yard for making all the collecting challenges way too easy. So, yeah, it was a good move for the Buydebug reigns to be pulled in.

Or, put various tomb items, thus completing some Photography challenges. If vacations are not allowed, how are we going to complete these collections, in order to complete a certain challenge?

Not all challenges will be completeable - and particularly not within the timeframe. Part of the strategy would be to choose which to tackle.

Yeah, I think rather than add the tomb items to the Buydebug list, I'll back NancyJ's reasoning and just agree that not all challenges are doable.

The musical intrument Star Challenges are obviously still bugged. The wording for those is something like "Perform at 10 different Venues/Parties." I could make the rules such that doing so does grant you those skill challenges. Everyone would obviously need to keep accurate notes as to where they played, etc, but it would be nice to have those challenges available because no one in their right mind would pursue those now. Whatcha guys think?

The collecting challenges are easy anyway ;) Well they are if you have my notes from last year... which weren't actually published due to the extreme length of my crazy eights interview so I guess its just me and Metro that have that advantage ;) I'm really looking forward to this one - wont be as good as the crazy eights but that was one that wasn't going to be easy to replicate and give a different spin. I think there are new collections coming in with generations though...well something I read implied it - could be rubbish

I dunno - its not like its not doable, it would ultimately be unwise to attempt (IMHO) to pursue it due to what is required to actually get it and I'm not sure I'd actually call it bugged so much as having a misleading description.

Hehe, People mock the pack rat until they want something they thought they wouldn't need ;) Like my boyfriend in wow - mocked me for hoarding until he got to level 85 and decided he wanted to level cooking - then who had every piece of meat or fish they'd ever dropped from level 1-85? ;)

ummm.... not sure we can use EA's inability/unwillingness to fix the problem as criteria for determining that something isn't a bug ;)

Counting venues/parties may make it a bit less simple - and you'd have to clarify which things count as a venue/party to make sure everyone is clear on what they're meant to be counting.

I thought we had resolved the guitar (and now other instruments) skill journal challenges.  It's not a bug.  It's just poorly worded.  When it says you have to play parties and venues around town, what it means is that you need to do the guitar opportunities.  Once you do 10 of those, the challenge is met.  Where is the bug?  What am I missing?
