I agree with Pam, the Music instrument challenge is much more a poor choice of words in the descritption than an actual bug. I've never done it myself, but as far as I know, once the Sim fulfills its 10th Music skill opportunity, the challenge is done, always.

This is different from the Nectar Making challenge where the Sim has to harvest x (400?) amount of grapes. When this Sim travels, the grape counter gets reset. This is a bug for me, and still unresolved by now. Although of course, we won't suffer it here since no vacation is allowed.

I have completed it once. With a Sim who only had guitar skill and it took about 9 weeks. I've never supermaxed nectar making though. A quick question, when it says skill challenges, that would be like supermaxing a skill right?

The vizard of vine bug existed regardless of travel when I did a challenge similar to this last year.  Unless it's been fixed recently, it's a bug for everyone.  What we did last year was if a sim grew 400 grapes and used the grapes they grew in nectar, we counted it even though it didn't show up as completed.

Metro, does that mean you have to complete a Skill Challenge for every item from Buydebug, you don't just unlock a type and have free usage of it after?

I never tested it (although I probably will later today) but are we sure that is a bug and not just another misunderstanding? (although IMO less so than the guitar one - how are you supposed to know that a 'throw party' doesn't count from that description?). As I said, I haven't actually tested it yet but I'm wondering if those reporting it were using 'Grapes' which I think don't and aren't supposed to count. I believe the description specifically says 'nectar grapes' which would be the named french grapes rather than regular grapes.

Yes, I meant French grapes, not the base game purplish grape. Sorry for the confusion :)
There is a whole topic about it here.

You'll probably test it much sooner than I, since I just need this for my Dynasty and I'm not playing it right now. I'll be looking forward what you come up with.

Reading that thread there are a few people who have completed it and I don't see anyone who definitely used 100% french grapes and never traveled unable to do it. I wouldn't be at all surprised if travel reset the internal counter because that's a known issue with many other things with hidden counters too.

I'll test it anyway but re-reading the rules, the issue is moot - we don't have access to the nectar grapes so we wouldn't be able to complete that challenge.

Personally, I'd rather not have buydebug at all (or make needs static but that's not a fight I'm going to win ;)) given the restrictions - of the allowed items only 2 of them require buydebug to obtain (and you only need 1 of the 2).
Last year we were allowed to buy anything from buydebug but only 1 item per skill maxed (which at the time was a limit of around 15 items - now it would be up to 19)

Still 15 for me. How? I don't have Late Night. :P

Then you don't have the additional instruments that can be maxed (bass, piano, drums).

Pam's right about the instrument "Star" challenges — it's a messed up description that's going on and not truly a bug. That's what I meant and just called it a bug. But, regardless, let's just drop the issue. If someone wants to pursue those, fine.

Both good and bad for me. Lol. I have only Guitar Star to do. :P

Good point!

Regarding the make need static cheat, I've never used it so far, so I'll have to test to know how it works. But I wonder too if it's really a must for the theme of this challenge.

It just means your bars dont go down so you never need to sleep or eat or use the toilet (and consequently don't have to worry about spending happiness points on stuff that reduces the amount of time you spend doing those things)

Have I missed anyone's questions or does anything else need to be ironed out? It's a long time before kickoff, but I'm just asking. I'm a bit preoccupied at the moment. Lol.

Make Needs Static is awesome! But, even with that, it took me nine weeks to max out 15 skills. Well, maybe I stopped to marry, have children, max out career, etc.. ^^"

@samo — right...you need to complete a skill challenge before Buydebug is even an option for you. And once you purchase one object from Buydebug, it gets locked up again until you complete another skill challenge.

Sorry, but I don't think I understand the part where you need a skill challenge before you can use buydebug. Do you mean that we can't buy the nectar machine unless we get a nectar-making opportunity? Or that we simply need any skill opportunity before we're allowed to use buydebug?

Right, you need to complete ANY skill opportunity before unlocking one Buydebug item.

Now I'm confused... I thought it was challenges not opportunities?

My bad. My words got jumbled. I meant skill challenge.

So, for example, if my Sim completes the cooking challenge where you have to cook 50 meals, that is one skill challenge complete. I can then buy one thing from buydebug.

Is this right?
