Building a Simbot
« on: June 05, 2011, 03:01:46 PM »
I'm trying to build a simbot for the first time. My sim is not yet level 10, but I'm already collecting materials so I'll be ready. I already have palladium, 100 scrap, and 10 life fruit. I have a pink diamond, but I haven't cut it yet. I haven't unlocked the heart-cut yet. It says I need to collect 10 unique gems. I've collected 64% of the gems, but a few were by miner. What percentage will it be when I unlock it?

It depends on the EPs you have. There are 10 types of gems in the vanilla game. World adventures adds 12 new gems, Ambitions adds 1 more, Late night 1 I think and I don't know about Generations. The link to the guide is here ;)

Tell me please if you find any mistake in my post. English is not my mother language. It's "only" the third one in frequency of utilisation. I'm "half-French".

Also check your Consignment Shop everyday, it sells Heart-shaped Pink Diamonds every now and again. You'll need quite a bit of cash on hand to buy it though, something like $5,000.

From my experience, any new gems found by the miner don't count toward the ten.  Your Sim needs to physically find them and pick them up.

Correct.  Gems found by breaking space rocks do count, however.  Likewise, sending your sims on a few trips to pick up rocks is usually enough to put you over what you need.

Finding that elusive Pink Diamond on the other hand, that is a pain. Though the opportunity will show point out the location in town view...if there is one to find.

Will the opportunity show me that even if I don't have WA and btw do i need vampire eye (from late night) and the other gem(from Ambitions) to complete the challange? If so does anyone know where to find it in twinbrook? I'm new to the fourms soo.. sorry if i posted this in the wrong place :P

Yes, the opportunity will show you that without WA installed.  Likewise, it is possible to complete this challenge without the new gems introduced with Ambitions and Late Night, since it is based on the gems that were included with the base game.  Those things just make it easier to complete.

As far as where you'd be more likely to find them in Twinbrook, I can't really say.
