Tournament Finale: The 4 X 4 Golden Opportunity

Goal
There are incredibly profitable opportunities in the game. That’s your goal — getting those highly desireable phone calls and delivering the goods to complete those opportunities. The top player will be the one whose 16 different opportunities paid the most.

General Challenge Rules
The General Challenge Rules always apply. If applicable, exceptions will be noted below.

Specific Challenge Rules

• Create 4 Young Adult Sims.
• Your starting 4 Sims are the only Sims that can be scored, but you can add to your household as you see fit.
• All content in the game is allowed. I repeat—all content in the game is allowed provided you are not entering a cheat code or using Edit Town.
• Your household is allowed 16 total days vacation. Use them however you wish. Each household member on vacation deducts one day — i.e. 3 Sims on a 3-day vacation = 9 days spent.
• This challenge concludes at the end of 12 weeks (Week 12, Day 7, 11:59 PM).

Scoring

Each score (Sim # Ops) is based on total money one Sim receives from completing 4 uniquely named opportunities (no duplicates between your Sims). Be on your toes and have a piece of paper right next to you at the end of an opportunity because the amount paid out flies up the screen pretty quickly.

Add up the 4 scores for your Total, but DO NOT list the names of your ops when posting your scores.

Tell me about it. #3 makes everything so much easier and reduced the total number of rules. I'm hoping to reduce the future number of "Metro, is it okay if I use X, or purchase Y reward" types of questions. If you're not opening the cheat panel or using Edit Town, the answer is yes.

Metro, I remember you saying a while back that you wanted to do a Challenge based on Opportunities.   Well done -- looks great!

Just for clarification:  I understand the score is based on 4 Sims having 4 unique Opportunities each.  Can 2 (or more) Sims complete the same Opp, as long as only one of them claims it for scoring purposes?  (hehe I hope this isn't considered a "Metro, can I use X" question  )

Lol. That's fine. And yes, you can have Sims do the same opportunities — it's not the same concept as BlackOps in the Dynasty challenges. So long as the 16 scored ops all have different names in the end, you're fine.

So there is no time limit for this challenge? Like, they don't have to get their 4 ops done by a certain day? Some can be done a lot later than the others?
Also, they can only accept 4 ops total, right?

The challenge concludes after 12 weeks. That is in the ruleset.

Of course not. You're only scoring 4.

Oh boy I really need to start researching which opportunities that gives the most money and how difficult/easy it is going to be to get them...

Haha, yeah, I hear you. I'm pretty familiar with which ones pay the most. Getting that phone call is another story altogether.

As long as what you're taking credit for with a payment takes up a bonifide ops slot, then you're good.

wow, I don't even know where to start with this one. I usually ignore opportunities because those phone calls really bug me, I know that some of them are based on a certain thing that's in your control but I haven't really paid much attention to them.

Does rules #3 override restrictions in the general challenge rules (the only one that comes to mind is that we're not allowed to use the moodlet manager but tbh thats the only content I could think of that's normally restricted)

Specific challenge instructions always override the General ones. Basically, almost anything goes. With this Finale I'm adopting the philosophy I'm carrying over to 2012 — if it's legit and basic game content, then you're free to do it. The exceptions are flat out cheating (opening the cheats panel) and using Edit Town.

Just to be clear, this means all the general rules still apply except the moodlet manager, right? 

In answer to the question just asked, I'm sure all of those (vampires, ghosts, simbots, and mummies) would be allowed, so long as you're just scoring your original four sims.

I don't see anything in the rules that would exclude them - nothing says your 4 original sims can't become vampires and we're allowed to add to the household however we see fit so there shouldn't be a problem with Simbots, mummies or ghosts.

Oh, yeah, now that I think about it, those creatures, vampires for one, aren't banned in the Random Wishmasters challenge so this one would be no exception.

Guys, I'll say it again — anything goes in this challenge so long as you're not cheating or opening a cheats panel or messing around in edit town. So, you don't even have to ask about vampires, mummies, ghosts, moodlet manager, motive mobile, whatever.
