Things that annoy you in the Sims
« on: August 07, 2011, 08:43:47 PM »
What's some of the things that annoy you in the sims. I'm not talking about bugs, just regular game play things.

Like for me it's when I click on a expecting mother and say take her to the Hospital they run out to the car and she gets behind the wheel and drives instead of the father.

And how your sims will flirt with their son/daughter in law. I had one of my sims out collecting gems when I got a message that her husband got a naughty reputation. It was because him and his daughter in law was flirting. Before that he had a eternally faithful reputation.
A clear conscience is usually a sign of a bad memory.

Whoever came up with the idea that the toilet shouldn't flush right away should be shot.  It was cute the first time I saw it.  Half a million views later, I'm ready to drown my Sims in the toilet every time it happens.

Another is inconsistency in the CAS wardrobe.  If a long-sleeved, tucked-in, button-up shirt can be everyday wear, why can't it be formal wear, too?  Moreover, if it's not formal wear, why is the untucked version formal wear?  How is untucked formal and tucked not?  Grrr.

On Generations the adults are now punishing their kids for the stupidest things post Town Life. It's not even their parents half the time. It's quite annoying, so naturally, I let them off the hook every time. My kids only got in trouble for big things when I first played, now they're in trouble for fighting with their siblings, and in the Littler family the Nanny punished them, but she has no custody or authority over those kids.

Sometimes when I play the game and mute it via in-game options, and my sim starts playing a guitar I can still hear it. :o The only thing I can do it mute my computer from the desktop!

It annoys me when I send a tired Sim to bed, only for him to wake up and complain about being tired.  Also annoying when a Sim wanders into another Sim's bedroom and turns on the stereo, waking them up.

It annoys me when my sims is really hungry and I tell him to go make himself some cereal and then in the middle of walking to the fridge he stops and complains that he's hungry.

it annoys me when a crying toddler wakes up EVERYONE in the house despite being on a different floor and different side of the house, but babies only wake up people in the same room.

I hate that sims move around when I tell them to play their instruments. :(

I agree with your post Carlos. I will send me sim to a nice location to play for tips, and decide on the spot to have them play - basically setting up some cool screen pictures. And what do they do when you tell them to play, they move to a completely random location and ruin my picture. Grr...

That's not quite one word. ;)

I hate it when I have lots of things for my sims to do cued up, and then as they are putting their dishes away or whatever Boom - the dishwasher breaks and I need to cancel every action just so they can repair or call the stupid repairman. Grr!  >:(

I know, right?

I hate when Sims play chess on the computer when I don't want them to have the logic skill. I also hate when they cook when I don't want them to have the cooking skill. Argh!

Somewhat related to the above:  I hate it when sims will grab some Mac-n-Cheese fixings to cook themselves (and will probably burn) when there's an already prepared, better meal sitting on the counter.  It has nothing to do with getting the Cooking skill for me.  It has to do with the fact that if there are any number of people (teenager or older) in the same house, they will all try to cook their own meals.  I've even had sims attempt to cook while someone was actually in the process of cooking something.  Cue the "I'm frustrated" dance, and leave an uncooked meal on the floor...hey, and why not go to the fridge and try to cook something again??  Yeah that's always lovely.  :P

Midnight phone calls.  At least they don't wake the sims up, but if you're offended when I call you at 3am, why do you get to call me whenever you want?

When a sim calls and aks if you want to "hang out" and you arrive at their place and they're gone. Nothing like wasting gas to get there and find no one at home!

I've been reading through this thread, nodding and laughing as I agree with everything that's been written.  The bottom line is, Sims just aren't that bright!  Which is probably why I try to control everything my Sims do, as I don't think they're smart enough to run their own lives.

Then again, having stupid Sims isn't entirely a bad thing.  At least it gives me the opportunity to be smarter than they are.   ;)

That's another one for me. And it seems they usually serve a meal so I end up with a ton of left overs in the fridge that seldom never eat. Even when the left overs is there favorite food.

It's annoying when they run, rather than walk, out of a club or building to get to their car. It's like they can't wait to get home!

I hate this alot! Specially when you have a big family! I usually have one Sim master cooking and the others pick it up so when she's/he's not home. But when they are all hungry they all cook something different. Exacly as you say and they do this "Cue the "I'm frustrated" dance, and leave an uncooked meal on the floor...hey, and why not go to the fridge and try to cook something again??" Exacly. I just put a door and lock it to the Sim cooking and the unlock it.

It annoys me when you have a bunch of stuff cued up and you go to focus on another sim in your house and the previous sim gets asked for an autograph or picture and the cue goes away and is left there picking their nose for hours until I notice.

I really, really hate this ^^^ >:(

When sims turn on the stereo then walk over and turn on the television to watch it, in the same room. ::)  Do one or the other, not both.  Very annoying, and noisy! :D

Particularly when the one asking for an autograph is the maid.  It stops my sim from doing what I asked him to do, it stops the maid from doing her job and odds are she's going to help herself to some ice cream or computer games now before she goes back to work.  IF she goes back to work.

Personally, I haven't had much trouble with people cooking when there's other food handy. But oh, the juice bar! I put a professional-grade bar in my sims' house. I threw a party. The family mixologist made Party drinks and Energy drinks - a couple trays of each, sitting right out in the open. Plenty of juice for everyone!

Every dog-gone guest at the party then proceeded to make at least one tray of quick drinks. Adding insult to injury, nobody actually drank anything - I had to clean up about 7 trays of quick drinks when all was said and done.

I've noticed my family members doing the same kind of thing sometimes - it seems like if the mixologist is working, and only if the mixologist is working, everyone else is likely to start trying to make quick drinks. Otherwise they leave the bar alone entirely.
