Fire cake
« on: February 14, 2010, 06:13:57 PM »
Ok, so first of all, the cake did burst into flames, and I think it was not a bug. Luckily no sim got killed, but Carl, you should put this down as a way to die. So here is what happened: my child Sim, Jake, had his birthday yesterday (real time) and just after he blew out the candles, the cake burst into flames and burned my dining table, chairs, bar, and destroyed my carpet. I had Jake call the firefighters, and then after the fire was put out, they told us to be more careful next time. Well I was being careful, and the cake fire started out of nowhere. So I'm going to label this as a way to die. If it has happened before, someone say so! Anyways name of way to die: Happy deathday to you. Freaky.

This isn't a bug.  It's generally known that birthday cakes can catch fire.  It's happened to me several times.  You never know when it's going to happen, so there aren't any precautions to take.  The firemen always tell you to be more careful any time you have a fire, so that doesn't really have any extra meaning here.  I don't think this would count as a different way to die because it's still death by fire.  The ways to die are fire, drowning, electrocution, starvation, and old age.  The way a fire starts isn't really a different way of dying.

That would be one traumatic birthday!

Well, luckily, no one was hurt. And to top it all off, when I moved to a mansion I built, the fireplace in the grand dining room caught on fire. Nothing was burned (whoopee! :D) And my Teen Jake, is now the star of my new legacy, I'm starting with his parents because, well... I just don't want to. Will provide back story though.

I haven't had a birthday cake explode on me yet.  I've had 21 Sims in this house (counting wives and growing up children til they hit young adult) and rarely skip a birthday party either.  Can the kid's stove set on fire?

I've never seen the toy stove catch fire, nor have I heard of it happening.  Hopefully, it's safe.  The birthday cake is bizarre when it catches fire.  Ruins the whole party.  Lol.

I've had the Grim Reaper show up in the middle of a party and kill one of the party guests - not one of my playable Sims.  That was a major party killer.  After he killed her - think it was Blair Wainwright (?) -he went and got a piece of cake.  Lovely.

Ha. Yeah, when Grim shows up at any social gathering, he basically becomes (get ready to edit this, Pam) the turd in a punch bowl. It's never good. I don't know how many times that has happened when I've played guitarists in front of the theatre.

Now, why do you have to put me in this position?  Lol.

You know how when you have a party, there's always one person that is like an hour or so late?  The Grim Reaper was already there partying and an old lady was about to come to my party late then ran away before ringing the doorbell.  Escaping death!

I recently had a party where not one, but TWO birthday cakes were burned!  I was a little worried about putting out the third birthday cake, but I figured it would be better to have a third fire than to have a birthday party where no one ages up.  lol!  Thankfully the third time seemed to be the charm.

I've never heard of that happening before! That's quite neat!

Well, if it was the person's actual birthday, then they would've aged up later in the night around 7 or 8 I believe.

Thanks Pam, I wondered where it had gone! I read Carl's post but it went totally over my head!
