I think Pam should be able to start up from a previous save. What Mortimer did - in my opinion - should never have happened. It definitely sounds like a bug.

Metro, how has recreating the incident gone?

Can't say I've had a lot to do with sims dying from that sort of thing. Does sound weird. I had a handy sim get electrocuted in the nectar challenge too Metro, so maybe it is one of those possible but unlikely situations. I guess it comes down to just making a decision about whether it should happen or not. On that thought, in real life, even the most experienced electrician can still be electrocuted but someone who is not fatigued probably wouldn't just drown in a swimming pool (ok maybe at a beach where there could be rips and such as a variable, but not in a static pool) So in my opinion, I would consider the drowning a glitch and have Pam reload the save game and try to do everything else the same as she did the first run (maybe just not swim this time lol)

As to my game.. I'm impressed with times of 8 weeks, but also a little worried. Unless my pair really pull their socks up in the rest of their careers (still both on their first) there is no way they will finish in that sort of time. One thing though, they seem to be getting plenty of opportunities (9 so far between the two of them). As has been the case with previous challenges, I am learning a lot about different aspects of game play, so even if I come last, I am still a winner  :D

Okay, I just PM'd with Pam and ruled that she's back in the challenge. I just could not recreate the situation. I totally stressed out my character. She had the -50 Stressed Out moodlet, not just the Strained one. John splashed Jane continually and nothing happened. This is just some bizarre fluke and I can't see Pam withdrawing over this. It just wouldn't be right. There was no player error here. If her character had been totally fatigued, then that's a different story.

Thanks to everyone who offered their opinion today.

I was certainly glad to get Jill back from the dead.  It freaked me out when she drowned like that!  Anyway, I'm finished with the challenge now.

Week 10, Day 6
27 completed Career Opportunities

By my math, that's a net of 62.25 days.

I really liked this challenge, Metro.  It got a tiny bit tedious at the very end when they were at levels 6 and 7 of their final careers.  But that was the only time.  It had enough variety to keep it interesting with all the skills and careers going on.  I didn't even hardly miss having toddlers!  ;D

Ha ha. Now that's a gold medal endorsement if you don't actually miss not having toddlers in a challenge! :) Of course, you'll get your fill of that action soon enough in Baby Boomer II, eh? ;)

This can't possibly be as tedious as the nectar challenge! That one completely wiped me out. I'm taking a break for a few days before starting this one.

I'm also looking forward to Baby Boomer II. I love the "nooboos" and I've missed having them during the last few challenges. My sims are often Family Oriented, which is funny because I'm much closer to Dislikes Children in real life.

I didn't want my sims to be lonely so I had them adopt a son, he is a child though! He also has some okay traits compared to previous adoptions, he is also A*  ;D

Hello all, I'm new here to the forums, but not new to the Sims, I have played all the versions and have had many of the expansion packs. I currently returned to playing the Sims after a long break just before Christmas of last year. I just recently got the World Expansion pack about two weeks ago. I would really love to join this challenge and many of the upcoming challenges as well. I made a couple of Sims, Betty and Bob Newb, and started them on their way to new careers. I will post and let you all know how it goes. If it is too late to get in on this challenge, I understand, however, I think I will give it a shot either way. Looking forward to getting to know you all!  :D

Who am I kidding? I'm so addicted to this game I can't stay away for more than a day. :D

Paul and Linda Lennon have just applied for their first jobs. Now it's time to start skilling before they begin work tomorrow.

Well it seems official.. I'm not going to be in the running for this challenge. My poor guy is never going to make it to the top of his career. Without giving too much away about my grand plan for the grand slam, let me just say he has been arrested and did time instead of working at least 6 times now (and he still has 2 promotions to get) and now I've just noticed a bug where he is just not going to work some days and I can't even send him manually.
People look at the results of the top finishers and use them as a target to aim for, mine will probably be the one everyone will try to see how much better they can do  ;D

Did you ever have a level 10 cop raid the warehouse? There was a bug a while back that prevented anyone from entering the warehouse after a raid. I had assumed that bug was fixed but maybe it wasn't.

That is always the consequences of going the dark path. That's why I am leaving it till last, after my Sim has walked the good path!

I've never walked the dark path - not even used the mean interaction either - and am staying well within my comfort zone ;D I've managed to get Aidan and Caitlin into their nd jobs. They should complete each soon.

Make sure you don't give too much away in your Posts, it could be seen as a Plan or strategy, so don't say what each of you sims careers will be! You don't want other people copying!

Norma, I just ran into the same problem today with my male Sim, he was at level 4 and had a maxed bar to get promoted to level 5 and he got arrested, and then the next time he got arrested it was at the very beginning of his shift, which then drained all of the bar that he had filled. The following day the car pool picked him up for work on time, dropped him off at the work place and then nothing. He wasn't allowed to work no matter what I did. So I sent him home and figured I'd try again the next day. Boom, he's arrested again and never gets to work. The following day he cannot get into work again. At this point he is near to a week behind and has two days scheduled off from work now. So, I figured, well this is not going to do, so I had him quit his job, which he couldn't do by clicking on the building, he had to call from his cell phone. Then start the job all over again. He is now at level 5 and everything seems to be okay, so far anyway.

Needless to say, even though my female Sim is doing very well, now on her 3rd career, the above is my male's second career(he had bad luck on his first career too, nothing glitchy though, just bad luck), I too will be like you with my score, the score that everyone makes sure they can do better than!  :P

It does feel good to not be alone, and even though this is my very first challenge, I'm not going to let it get to me, I'm gonna keep my chin up and move on.

Yeah, moving through the levels in careers efficiently is tough sometimes due to the scheduled days on/off for each level.  Sometimes not getting a work bar filled on the right day can cause a several day delay just because of the schedule for the next job.  At least you don't have to go past Astronaut for Military... Only one day a week to work on that one would make it rough to get promoted quickly.
