It does feel good to not be alone, and even though this is my very first challenge, I'm not going to let it get to me, I'm gonna keep my chin up and move on.

Good for you. I had some problems at the end for my female Sim as well that seemed to be out of my control. Nothing as drastic as the Criminal career problems that have been mentioned, but still annoying to a perfectionist like me. I'm glad you're sticking with it.

This is probably a silly question, but how do you know how many weeks you have been playing? Is there a spot with stats on how old your sims are or do you just add it up from the days til aging up bar?

I tried to quickly find a screenshot pointing out what to look for as a reference for you, but I couldn't find one. Usually players don't have screenshots that includes controls. Just mouse over  the stuff towards the bottom left and you should see "Week X, Day Y" in a white panel.

You need to hover your cursor over the clock.

Just to be a tiny bit more precise than "the stuff". ;D

I haven't even started on this yet!  Ahhh!  I feel like I am too sweet to my Sims to get this challenge done how I normally would play.  Shall start tomorrow :)

Yeah, moving through the levels in careers efficiently is tough sometimes due to the scheduled days on/off for each level.
I'm about to run into a problem with the scheduled days off. I already planned four careers in order for each sim before I started. Paul is likely to reach level 10 in his first career on Friday, but his second career doesn't start until Monday. I could have him start a different career so he can work on the weekend, but that will mess up my skill training schedule. I'll also have to give him a mid-life crisis sooner than I was expecting. Is it worth it to gain two extra days? I'll have to decide.

Forgive me if this is not allowed, but it seems that people with WA are at a big big disadvantage. I keep getting opportunities to go foreign, which i can not consistently complete!

Sorry if it seemed like I asking for help. I was just commenting on how days off can affect strategy. That was meant as a rhetorical question. Only I can decide which answer is right for me.

One thing I like about these challenges is how an unexpected event can change your plans and cause you to completely rethink your strategy. It really keeps things interesting.

There's nothing in the rules that says you can't travel. I already had one foreign opportunity and was able to complete it easily.

Actualy metro mentioned earlier in the thread that you can travel as much as you like, so unless you really want to don't ignore those foreign opportunities :)

If you don't want to travel then just cancel the Opportunity so another has a chance of firing soon.

I know, but in the career track that i pursued, 75% of the opportunities involved traveling. It's theoretically possible to complete them all, but a huge if you must travel so much. inconvenience.

It is, isn't it? Especially if they don't have that much money, to start with.

Great luck on 4th career for both Sims, so I finished week 9, day 6 with 19 opportunities. Was fun!

[Edit:  Corrected typo on number of opportunities.  -Pam]

Finally done with my career challenge! I'm hoping you all will enjoy the story line I played throughout the challenge. I intend to continue it and see how things play out over time.

Bob Newb and Betty Sim were high school sweethearts throughout all of high school. They had their ups and downs and break ups and make ups from time to time, but usually if you saw Bob, Betty was sure to be around, and vice versa. They had a good amount of things in common, but they also had a knack for competition between each other. This often caused break ups but with those break ups came the even better make ups.
When they both graduated with high honors from high school, it was expected by everyone in town for them to marry. Bob already had the ring and popped the question to Betty one sultry summer evening in Central Park. Betty, however, had another proposition in mind. She told Bob that she would only accept his proposal on one condition. That condition was a career challenge. The challenge went like such: before they actually settled down and started having kids, they each had to see which of them could reach the end of four different careers before the other. The winner got to decide who would be the one to stay home with the kids and whom would continue bringing home the bacon. With a sly smile, Bob gladly accepted and Betty and Bob were on their way for the biggest competition of their lives.

Just a heads up, the above story line was just played out in my head and didn't actually occur in game. I started Betty and Bob as two married young adults. I just like to have a story behind each of my Sim families, otherwise the game play seems boring to me. Here is what played out without any details:

Betty
Career 1: completed Week 3, Day 5, with 6 career opportunities.
Career 2: completed Week 5, Day 6, with 3 career opportunities.
Career 3: completed Week 7, Day 7, with 4 career opportunities.
Career 4: completed Week 9, Day 6, with 4 career opportunities.

Bob
Career 1: completed Week 4, Day 3, with 5 career opportunities.
Career 2: completed Week 8, Day 3, with 4 career opportunities.
Career 3: completed Week 10, Day 5, with 2 career opportunities.
Career 4: completed Week 13, Day 2, with 3 career opportunities.

Final Score:
Week 13, Day 2, with 31 career opportunities.

I realize I didn't need to type all that out and just needed to report my final score, but I wanted you all to see the huge difference between the two, some of it had to do with career choices and the rest had to do with the glitch that doesn't let your Sim work on every scheduled work day.
I had fun with this, it did get really tedious and nerve wracking at the end of Bob's last career, but all in all, I had fun and I look forward to doing many more challenges in the future!

Lisa  :D

TylerDurden, your post was removed. Way too much info. It does not belong in this thread. If players ask for advice they can do so elsewhere.

Hiya Metro and everyone... I've decided to pull out of this challenge because of a few things I've done and haven't done. It's become a bit too tedious for me.

Well, I'm not going to try and change your mind. I made some mistakes too. It happens.

Wish we knew what the new expansion was going to be earlier, this would have been a great challenge to go with it.
