I wondered if anybody knew if there was a list somewhere with all opportunities in game?? Just to see how many different career opportunities there are?

And by the way, I'm starting today. Mr. and Mrs. Smith (idea from the film, just the names not the looks) are going to do their best. Go go John and Jane.

We made an attempt to make a list of all opportunities in the game, but it turned out to be a monstrous task.  There are just too many and they change regularly with the releases of expansion packs and updates.

The sims wiki got a list if you want one, might not be complete but it will give you an idea of opportunities.

Well, John and Jane Kah-Rear are off and have started the challenge. On the one hand, I'm really happy with their initial success — both of them have a perfect record of nabbing a promotion every single day they've been to work. BUT...I haven't had a single Career Opportunity presented for either one. Kind of strange. Oh, well. It's only the middle of week 1. I'm getting ready to have them take a vacation soon to work on some skills.

I like their surname. I think there's a certain lifetime reward that may be able to help them along.

My couple is almost halfway through the challenge. By the end of today they should each have two careers maxed. I'm 90% sure what their 3rd career choice will be, but I'm still flip-flopping on the final one. I'm definitely getting more Career Opportunities for each of them in their 2nd career. I don't know what the deal was the first couple of weeks for career 1 — very few were offered.

I have a question about the Medical track.  My character Martha McSchipperke has reached level 4 and one of the promotion factors now is Research, which I understand is medical journals read.  Where does one find these journals?  I assumed they would turn up in her inventory but have looked and looked and the only new thing  in her inventory is the beeper.  Help!  She doesn't want to go to work tomorrow without having done  her homework.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High!!

As far it being the wrong quote I had to kind of adapt it so it made sense with saying "Forum Rules." As in, "rules" are plural. You wouldn't say Forum Rules — Learn it, Know it, Live it. Just doesn't sound right. Okay, now I need to stop thinking about Phoebe Cates in a swimsuit.

You won't get a Medical Journal right away. You'll get one the next day in the Inventory.

Tyler, you're spot-on with the movie quote. I'll edit my sig. :)

I was just going to say that the first medical journal shows up at the end of your first complete day as an intern. No homework until you have been on the job for a day!

Thanks for the information about the journals.  It does seem odd that reading journals should become one of the criteria for promotion before the journals are available, though.

I can understand why it may seem odd, but it doesn't make sense to get promoted after you leave work, then get the journals outside of work. Kind of like you don't get promoted to the next grade, then have homework to do over summer break (and summer reading doesn't count).

mmm, just had an opportunity to switch careers (didn't take it though) how would this impact on the challenge. I've had it before where you get the chance to switch from one career to sometimes a higher level in a different career. Is this allowed or are we to start with one career and keep with it till we master it?

I have had the same opportunity to switch careers, but declined doing so as I had already mapped out what careers each of my sims would do and they need to complete 4 each, with none overlapping.  Remember that there are only 10 careers available at this time.  Metro will have to rule on this, just thought I would put my own thinking out there.

That's how I was. I had worked out what careers they were going to do and while the one that I could swap to was actually in my plan, it would mean I would still have to come back to do the one I was currently doing.

There's nothing forcing you to stay in a given career if you do get the opportunity to switch to another at a higher level. Just remember that might throw a monkey wrench in your strategy if you do accept — if you start a career with a given plan, and then have an opportunity to switch you need to really think hard: hours, days, metrics — all of that will be different.

I've started this challenge. So far only Caitlin Healy has been to work. Poor thing has got burned out with stress so I doubt she'll get promoted on her first day. Her hubby, Aidan, is still at home having a good time. He'll go to work soon.

One thing I read on the guide is that if you go directly to the employer of choice, you'd be able to start the very same day, but they only started on the next day.

arghhh. Poor poor Vince. For someone with the lucky trait, my guy is very UNlucky. The way he's going, he will never reach the top of this particular career... I'm temped to have him quit and try something else !

Nancy, I've got you on the board, good luck.

And there are 11 career choices, not 10, just to be clear.

I should be done with John and Jane by the end of today. The last few days of their 4th career is going to take quite some juggling. I'm hoping they both finish on the same day.
