Haven't seen the movie yet! But my husband and I were planning to take the kiddos to the drive in to see it. I love the drive in plus it is the only logically way to take 6 little ones to a movie. And happy belated birthday Metro!

Thank you. I would have no problem taking my two older girls (9, 14) to Iron Man 2. But, I would not take Claire (4) only because I have no idea how it would hold her attention. There needs to be ponies, some dancing, laughing, you know, happy times going on in a movie. And a lot of pink. (sigh) Never got my boy. I need a hug.  :D

Ponies?  And lots of pink.  That's cute.  Hehe.

I loved Iron Man 2.  I really enjoy Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark.  Excellent casting and portrayal, in my opinion.

Drive in??  Wow.  Our last drive in bit the dust at least 10 years ago, maybe more.  There also used to be 3 drive ins at Texas Stadium, which was great fun.  I sure miss my Texas Stadium.  RIP.

We have drive ins but they never show recent movies. How do all the 6 little ones get positioned so they can all see the movie in one car?

I've never even seen a drive-in in Sweden, maybe it's a cultural thing. On the other hand, I can't see what the problem would be with 6 people in a normal cinema.

There are only like 50 drive in's left in the whole US or something similar. And we have one of them! We are in a van though not a car and we park so that the back faces the screen and all climb in the back seat and watch. 6 people in a cinema isn't bad when they are older. But I am talking 6 kids. My husband and I then a 6 kids under the age of 8! Now in a cinema that is difficult.

lol!  Indeed.  At our house (also known as the Pretty Pretty Princess Palace) the color pink most certainly rules.  At the moment their favorite show is UmiZoomi, and their favorite character of course is Mili Measure... because her dress is pink and she has long ponytails. lol

LOL. I wish I could say the same, but I am totally outnumbered. Out of the six kids, 4 of them are boys!  :'( But my girls are girly! So that is a plus! We just found out we will be having number seven in Dec. So really really hoping for another girl!  ;D

I took my oldest girl to see Shrek Happily Ever After yesterday. Great flick — I highly recommend it. However I saw the trailer for Megamind, an upcoming animated movie with Brad Pitt supplying the voice of Metro Man. Let me repeat that. Metro Man. Brad Pitt. Brad who? Was I asked to do the voice of this character? I think we know the answer. Unacceptable.

Well, momofmany, just eat plenty of watermelon, LOL.  Wish it were that simple in real life.  BTW, congrats on the upcoming new arrival.

Haha! But I thought you already has patent pending on your name. ;)
Anyway, Shrek Happily Efter After, isn't that the story where Shrek travels somehow to a different dimension or so? At least, after I saw a trailer of it, I thought it was that. To bad it isn't in the cinema here yet.

Yep. He basically snaps in the real life that he has (endless diaper changing, etc), wishes for a different life, and Rumpelstiltzken makes it happen with Shrek signing a secret contract. Great and inventive story. A classic theme showing you really don't know how much you love certain people until they're gone.

Haha, cool! Great the storyline is still good after already (what is it?) 2, or 3 movies. Mostly that is the first thing that will be bad after a few sequels for populair movies. You have kids, I've read earlier here sometimes. It must be wonderfull to go with them to a cinema to watch a movie like that, what is actually entertaining for any age! :D
Are there new voices of famous actors in the movie? Although in Holland we have voiceovers for the kids who don't speak English yet, I like the original version to.

Yes, okey. That of course will be a good alternative option. :)
O wait, you are Dutch to. Which voices do you prever: the original one, or the Dutch? I'm just curious.

Although the voice actors for the Dutch version are usually Dutch or Flemisch celebrities, I prefer the original version. There is and will always be a wider variety of English and American actors than of Dutch or Flemish ones. The second reason for my choice is that some jokes get lost in the translation process. E.g. altering words a little; most of the time those jokes do not work out in Duch!

Same in Sweden. It took years before I realised that the original version of Shrek was supposed to have Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy in it!

Haha, really? Is the Swedish version so different than?
Actually, when I compare the voices of the English and Dutch version I see they toke some time to make them actually sounds like the original ones. I am so used to the Dutch version. Maybe I don't hear it with the English one, but personally I preffer the Dutch version (which really is an exception because mostly I like the originals) because of the immersion the Dutch actors show in the voices.
Not that the English ones doesn't have that. They sure do, but for some reason I just don't hear it always.

My usual preference is to see all films in whatever language they were made in, that's usually the right thing to do.

However, there is one important exception to this rule: The songs from those Disney movies from the 90's are always better in Swedish than in English, or any other language for that matter (sorry Leto, Illuminator and PJSim!); and that's not just me who's talking, but many native English-speakers have agreed on that. It's just that Swedish is a great language to sing in. Search for them on Youtube and compare!

EDIT: OK, here's an example with 'Hellfire' from the Hunchback of Notre Dame. The Swedish is, how should I say it, much more vocal than the English version.

LOL yes that would be nice. Actually I was just eating watermelon today and didn't even realize the irony until now. And thank you!

That is so wrong! We will all think of you when you hear it of course! At the drive in they were playing Shrek and Iron Man 2. I really wanted to take the kids over the weekend but my husband worked every night and I can't take them myself!

I hadn't even heard of Shrek 4 until you guys mentioned it! It's not in the trailers at my cinemas. Or they've hidden them somewhere? Maybe it's not out here yet? But I looked it up on google, and the trailers say it's called Shrek Forever After. Donkey looks so scruffy. lol
