I am too!  It looks like they're taking turns releasing info, videos and screenshots.  First was Egypt, now China and probably right before they release ep it will be France.

I just saw on Snooty's site that there is an unconfirmed release of a special Christmas edition along with the sp in Feb.  Guess I'll have to start saving now!  ;D

I'd love to make an Egyptian Pharaoh or something.
Maybe even start my own Dynasty  :D

Man I wish you'd get your wish, but from what I've read of people who've played the beta it's like this for visiting places:

It's like a vacation. You can stay there only so long. Completing tasks in other countries will get you "visa" points and eventually you can buy a vacation home there.

I think that was their only gripe though. I'm going to do an article on it and add all the info I find and try to constantly update it with new sources. I don't have beta access but we can find people who have reliable info this way.

Thankfully it looks like there's a ton to do in the foreign locations, with gathering artifacts (assembling pieces we find even) and new traits, skills (karate baby!) and lifetime wishes for us!

I'm very excited for World Adventures. From a tournament hosts' perspective it's going to fuel my imagination for new and fun challenges for Carl's site. Once I get a feel for the new content I'm sure I'll be throwing something up at the Challenges forum incorporating WA stuff.

I'm mostly exited about new features in the general gameplay like the new skills and traits Carl mentions.

I was reading some updated news articles on a few sites last night and found mention that we are getting Life Fish with this expansion and a bunch of other new items in plants and collecting.  Those are the things that really excite me at the moment.  Little over a month and we will get to play!!!!  Woot!!!!

Happy Simming....

The most exciting thing is EA and Maxis made Sims 3 and World Adventures so great.  Imagine what will be in 10 years? What Sims will look like?  Probably just like us!

Yeah, I'm excited about WA...from all the screenshots/videos it looks like it's going to have so much for our Sims to do!  Of course my 5 star chefs are wondering what new cuisine might be added to their recipes  :D!  After all we are going to have France...how can they avoid adding new food!  ;D

Yeah we better be making Crepes. France is a major center for cuisine. I'm more into the exploring dungeons. I'll have to redo my Lara Croft character.

They should also add Chinese cuisine while they are at it. Heck, they should add every cuisine for everyplace they are going to add in.

Yep this game is going to have a huge recipe book, and I hope i will eventually see it with the longest skills list available. It will be interesting to see how the new skills and such fit into other combinations.

I'm hoping for new causes of death. The old expansions added them in gradually, eventually I think there were quadruple the ways to die in the Sims 2.

Sims 3 is my first experience with any of the Sims games, so I'm even more excited about World Adventures.  From what I hear, expansion packs make a world of difference in the game and they keep coming out with more of them over a period of years.  Yes!  I'm excited about it!

I forget you haven't played before, yeah you should be exited. A lot of people have complained about Sims 3 and what they're missing, I think they forget how much of the fun was added with the EP's. It can be new neighborhoods or new careers or entirely new gameplay elements, for example gardening and fishing were added in EP's. Or new sims; your sim could become a werewolf or be resurrected as a zombie.

Here's a list of the EP's for Sims 2 to give you an idea of what we might expect.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sims_2#Expansion_packs

My favorite was Seasons which made the seasons change. For example in the fall the leaves fell off the trees and you could rake them up and compost them to use as fertilizer in your garden and in winter sometimes it snowed and your sims could have snowball fights and build snowmen. Oh and the garden plants went dormant in winter so no gardening and the ponds for fishing froze over. That made the everyday life of your sims change with the seasons. :)

I'm hoping for new causes of death. The old expansions added them in gradually, eventually I think there were quadruple the ways to die in the Sims 2.

:D I don't remember that, I think I must have missed most of those. Maybe that should be a section of the guide, "How to Kill a Sim". :D

I am too! I think it's a little ridiculous that it costs 40$ (I think!) I paid 55$ for Sims 3, so I don't think I'll be buying this anytime soon!

Yea, it is expensive and I had been saving up to buy WA since I heard it was coming out, but now maybe I will stash that away for a rainy day!  ;)

I just wanted to post this link from an article I was referred to from InsideMacGames —

http://worthplaying.com/article/2009/11/10/news/70104/

The new Photography skill looks awesome. With all of the press self-employment options like Writing, Painting, and Guitar playing have received in the various challenge threads I wanted to do some kind of pure artistic challenge. Now I'm going to wait until WA is released and really do it up big where you might have an "artist" house — 4 different artists all pursuing different aspects of the game.

Gamespot has said that adventuring is a full-fledged self-employment option, with tents and even showers in a can for us to use to keep our Sims comfy while they're exploring tombs and ruins.

I was excited about "Nectar making" as a skill, but not so much now that I know it's basically brewing wines. Hopefully these wines act like potions and can cure fatigue and the like if we invest the time in developing the skill. We're less than a week away and the team is going to be going berserk working to get new info out as quickly as possible.

Expect skeleton guides at first with info filled in as we obtain it.

I just placed my order for WA with Amazon. I actually typed up a note to be included (from myself) in the box:

------

Metro:

Thanks for putting some dollars in this starving student's pocket. I just ran out of ramen noodles.

Your friend, Carl

-------

Good taste won out, as I realized my wife might intercept the package before me and promptly set up an appoint for me with a psychiatrist.

I did splurge on one-day shipping though as I can't wait to create some new challenges for the site.
