Training Dogs for Hunter Trait
« on: November 08, 2011, 02:09:11 PM »
The Pet Traits guide page says that dogs can't be trained for the Hunter trait, but I was able to do it. For some reason "sniff out collectibles" doesn't have a reinforcement option, but the "Locate collectibles" interaction (available at higher levels of Hunting? The one that marks digging spots in Map Mode when the dog is the active sim) can be praised, and I was able to successfully add the trait to my dog.

Yeah, this isn't the first mention of this. I will go in and edit that out. It is a case of a game bug hitting me and causing inaccurate info. It's one of the most frustrating things that happen when writing for games.

One other way for a dog to get the hunter trait is to have them eat fish. ( or any kind of meat, maybe? Not sure. )
That might be quite useful if you want the dog to have the trait before you start training.

Thanks for the tip to let the dogs eat fish. But eating meat let them gain the piggy trait lol.

My dogs have gotten the hunting trait automatically after I sent them out to find stuff a few times.
