Upgrade Comments Thread
« on: November 21, 2011, 04:11:12 AM »
The forum now runs on SimpleMachines Forum 2.0. This upgrade was pretty abrupt, but I'm glad I finally got to do it. When we started 2 years ago we knew of SMF 2.0 but did not want to use a beta. This is good because we will have more modification options, and some things that required a mod in SMF 1.15 are now a part of the forum.

All of us will have to learn the new drop-down menu system. It does save some clicking and might even save us bandwidth.

As for the theme, I want to let you know that you can change it.

Head to Profile > Account Settings > Modify Profile > Look and Layout

The first option there will let you see the available themes. Choose among them and find one that fits you. I'm using the bright green now. I might even switch around from time to time :)

I hope that no one has any major issues with this upgrade. This version has been in development for a long time and is the result of the combined effort of a lot of dedicated people. You will find new features and changes to the way things used to work. You can talk about features and changes in this thread. Feel free to express your opinion about the upgrade and anything we might do to improve your experience. I am sorry but not every idea can be implemented.

Note There are few plugins installed right now. I will work to get those features working as quickly as I can. So if something's missing, it might be due to a plugin.

The upgrade is fine and all but where did my bookmarks go to? I hope they're not on a shoping trip because I know I won't see them again if they are.  :D

Nothing really big, but we seem to have lost the link to the gallery along the top, or is it just hiding somewhere.

Everyone please keep in mind that Carl will have to re-install a lot of things and it will take some time.  Patience is appreciated.

I'm glad they are working. Right now, attachments bigger than ~3.5MB are not working. I'm looking into it now.

In general I like it a lot, including the restful on the eyes colors you chose.  However, can you make the font size larger or can I?  I'm having difficulty reading the words.  It seems the other format was bolder and/or larger print.
Even just bolder would help a lot.  Thanks if you can, and thanks for constantly improving this forum even if you can't.  Carl, you truly are a wonder and we love you for all you do for us.
What?  Grannies can't play games?

Thought I was losing my mind when I got on the forum this morning, lol.   If I had read this first, would have known why.   Looks great Carl.

This is really nice ! I see something with imageshack? does that mean we can upload images directly from the post? also I have a little suggestion if it doesn't bother, if it is possible to add spoilers? would nice for the threads which host a lot of pictures :)

Things did not go well at all. But then, you probably realized that if you tried to log in within the past 5 hours.  :( I actually gave up and restored the site from a backup. The only thing I learned was how to hate Linux. Every turn presents another problem and something that should be simple is nowhere near it. The system refused to remove the old version of a program i was updating.   I'll continue working on the updates late tonight.  I hate giving up on things, so it's good I'm exhausted or my stubbornness could have kept things down another hour or two :P

Thanks for the feedback guys, and I am sorry for the downtime!  I will look into your suggestions when I am working tonight.. I do want a spoiler feature if I can find the right plugin!

I really like the looks of the new forum.

I have a question about the gallery - I uploaded a photo and it tells me that the upload failed yet the photo is in my gallery and I am also getting some type of message code  (I don't know what you would call it)  above the Carls Sims 3 Image Gallery area.  If it helps I am using Safari and on a Mac.

Lol, I thought I'd clicked on a wrong link or something because I was so used to the old look, I like this layout, although it will take some getting used to. I like the look of a few of the features though! I wonder how many Buddy requests Carl and Pam will get, Lol.  :D

Are you able to add a Red Theme? I like the colour Red and there are only Blues and Greens available?

How do I get to the gallery?

There isn't a button for that, that I can see anyway. I have it bookmarked though so here is the link if you need it.

EDIT: That new button for the mouse displays your post as it will show when posted! Well it removed the URL Code I made and replaced it with a hyperlink.
