I just pre ordered Showtime a few minutes ago on Origin and also Master Suite . It didn't state a release date .  Hopefully they will send an email with release dates . Can't wait , it sounds pretty awesome .

Amazon says it will be out March 6. That's who I order from. They usually do something like .99 cents shipping release day arrival. When I ordered Pets from Amazon they had a 10.00 rebate they put in my Amazon account.  I've had too many problems ordering from Origin.

I personally am annoyed. This just looks like an updated version of Late Night. There is almost nothing to this EP apart from what is like two skills and some more LN features.  :-\

I'm with you. I'm really disappointed.  I guess now we'll just have singers performing in near empty venues  as opposed to musicians performing in near empty clubs.

I just have no interest at all in reality TV in real life and now it seems that it's in The Sims.  I really have no interest in the social aspect.

I'm not keen on the 'social' part of this. So now our sims basically have Facebook pages? O_o

I wonder how the share Sims will work? It probably needs internet or something.

Yes.. I'm picturing the social bit as a built-in sim version of Facebook but for our sims. I won't have much use for that, I don't know a lot of people that play sims, unless they allow you to connect with any sim 'online' at that current moment but that could be a little dangerous, so I'm pretty sure it's not as open as that. Probably just your friends on the official site or something, whenever they come online.

As for everyone saying it's basically LN 2, I don't agree. They couldn't possibly fit all this show stuff in LN as well as all the other features there, I see why they put it into a seperate EP, but I don't quite get the social aspect. I'm not keen on it, really, our sims don't need social networking sites, do they? xD

I wonder what the new life form will be!

It sounds strange to me. Also since they mentioned magicians maybe we'll get magic, if they do I hope it's proper magic.

I wonder if the social feature is like Nintendo's Animal Crossing games where your character could actually go to another player's town but you still retained control of them.  You could chat with your friends' characters or with the NPC characters in their town.  You could buy things from their shops, fish and collect in their town, etc.  You decided when the gate to your town was open for your friends to come visit you, so you could control whether you played solo or with friends.

It required internet and it required you to set up a friends list so that you couldn't randomly go visit someone who was a complete stranger - you had to be on each other's friends lists.  If so, this forum is ideally suited to lead in to that kind of game experience.  I know I would love to have many of the great people I have met here come to visit me and my sims and I would like to go visit you and yours.  How cool would THAT be?!

If that is the kind of thing they are talking about it would be AWESOME, VERGING ON EPIC!  Animal Crossing was one of the best games Nintendo ever put out and is actually the game that I blame for my current Sims and WoW addictions.   ;D

Now that sounds good! :D I hope it is like that! It might be a little complicated with people that don't have the same EPs and so on but still, I hope it's something along those lines. :) They do mention posting things to each other's walls, though, so I believe some sort of social networking may involved.

There very well may be social networking.  In Animal Crossing there was a town bulletin board and you could go leave messages for your friends there while you were visiting.  Of course this game goes back about 10 years so I'm sure the mechanics in TS3 would be updated to match our experience with social networking in real life.

Hmm.. Well, I suppose we'll have to wait and see but I do hope it's not 'too' open, because if it's put in such a way that people can connect with complete strangers then that could be potentially dangerous, and even with people you know in some cases. But of course, we don't know for defenite. Everything else sounds amazing and finally, finally, finally a singing skill! Our sims can be pop stars now! :D And for those without LN, they can be famous and not have annoying papz following them around! :P (Let's hope there aren't any other equally as painful drawbacks with this EP! xD)

Just from looking at the video I'm speculating that the magician will be just another skill to master. The way the magician looks in the ST trailer reminds me of the way the mixologist looks in LN when they drop a glass.

The only thing that makes this seem interesting would be I can imagine Artie visiting the Faes, the Jades and others and leaving random notes on the town bulletin boards.  I mean can you imagine seeing that crazy red guy hanging around in YOUR town.

I am all for this EP, except the social part.  I don't think I would be interested in that, maybe some members from here, but not strangers.  I just like playing the game and for some people's computers, it might present a problem.  Guess will have to just wait and see.

I would be willing to bet that EA will have some kind of user controls around this so that you can allow or not allow visitors and only those players you have approved would be allowed to visit.  I don't think anyone would want random people coming in to their town and wreaking havoc.  If EA can pull this off successfully it has the potential to open up whole new aspects of an already fantastic game.

I'm not very thrilled with this EP from the information we have. In my opinion these features should have just been integrated into LN.The skills sound good, but I'd get bored of the venues pretty quickly just like I did the clubs in Bridgeport. I'm not keen on the social networking aspect either. Sims should be a one-player game in my opinion, and I'm not really interested in visiting other people's games. That being said however, I probably will cave and get it at some point, for the new items, clothes and hair. I'm sure I read somewhere that there's a new town, although I don't know if that was confirmed by EA. If there is, I would enjoy exploring it.

Am actually very happy with this EP, but I loved Late Nightl. We have magic which I've been wanting for a long time, a singing skill and DJ booth. Am thrilled. The new World is called Starlight Shores, am getting a California feel.

I'll be skipping this one.  I'm glad that some of your are excited about it, though - that's the great thing about this game.  You can really take away from it the experience you wish to have.

Oh wow, I remember going on Animal Crossing when I was younger! I also think the best thing about this feature is that it isn't mandatory to use, and you can turn it off if you like. I like the idea of this EP, but I also think that it really just fits in with LN and seems like a sequal to it.

There is an announcement from Electronic Arts, so if you ask me, this thread can be unlocked.
 http://thesims.com/en_us/the-sims-showtime?intcmp=TheSims3StoreDec_Internal_ComSplash_ep6Announce

Finally sims can become magicians now. :) I was waiting for that to happen. I'm sure a magic kind of thing will be a skill, along with singing and who know... DJing?

You also can send and invite sims from your town to that of a friend and vice versa to let then perform on the venues there. How exciting! Closer I can not get with the cool members here.
Attention fellow members! The forum rules essay is starting soon. You better refresh your mind. ;)

No matter what I end up getting all the Eps and SPs. If for no other reason than to have the new items/build/content stuff, have a complete set and to have a game that's up to date.  I just hope that there is a way to avoid the networking because if there isn't this might be a first for me, as in not buying it.

Exactly my feelings about the social aspect.  My personal opinion is that if I want to be social, I'll probably just leave the house and do that. :)

;D Exactly. My game is one thing and my social life is another.
