Oh, cool. I didn't know that. I'm definitely not an I Dream of Jeannie expert.

Wellll ... I'm glad that others are feeling confident about this challenge.  As for me, I am sticking my foot in with fear and trepidation.  I expect to finish as an "also ran".  If I live that long.   ;D  Good luck, all!

Hun, I hate kids (just look at my signiture), but you will be okay. I was shuddering in fear (this was my post from BBI):

I did it.

6 YA
2 Toddlers
3 Infant

So (1600 x 6)+(200 x 2)+(100 x 3)=
    (9600) + (400) + (300) = 10,300

I am shaking still, if I never see a crib again it will be to soon.

Now to start on Centeriun Solo.

Ack! My baby brother sleeps in a crib. Nooooo!

Me too. Check out the early pages of BB I and you'll find wimpy Metro completely bailing out and then finally rejoining after Pam properly kicked my you-know-what into gear.

It's daunting stuff. There's no getting around it. Even though this is a 50-dayer, and not a long 100-day challenge, mark my words...this will more than likely take longer for a player to finish. There's just so much micromanagement compared to something like the Nectar Challenge where you could practically be in a coma at the end and still know what to do. The player that wins this is going to have some Uber chops. I'm totally stoked and can't wait to get out of the blocks next Friday. I haven't played a big family since last fall in BB I.

Thanks for the encouragement!  This is definitely going to be different than my usual style of playing a solitary sim that I can plunk down in front of an easel and let them get on with it while I make a cup of tea.  But then, that is what is fun about these Challenges - they force me to learn and try new things (thanks, Metro!).

Pam, what are "nooboos"?  From the context, I assume these are children of some age, but I am wondering where the term comes from.

Nooboo is Simlish for baby or toddler. You can hear them say it while playing with babies, teaching toddlers to walk, and numerous other times. Someone on a blog I used to read always referred to sim babies and toddlers as nooboos. I eventually found myself doing the same thing.

One of our members, TheCub, made a reference to "nooboos" in another thread as infants and toddlers.  I thought it was so cute and funny because the adults say "nooboo" a lot with the little ones when changing diapers, feeding bottles, putting to bed, etc.  I think Nooboo is Simlish for baby.  I've also heard nooboo in one of the foreign love songs that they can learn.  The name just stuck with me.  :D

Edit:  Haha!  There's TheCub now!  And beat me to the answer by a split second!

OK I'm in too.
I'm with Schipperke in that these challenges get us playing in ways we don't normally. Funny, looking over the challenges we have done so far, in most of them I said something along the lines of.."I don't normally play...(insert style of play here)" gee.. all the things I don't do, you have to wonder what I've been doing all these years with my sims!

So I am off to finish the career challenge (been away doing some serious real life retail therapy  ;D ) then I might make a test couple and re-introduce myself to the joys of babies and toddlers. Might have to go and look at all those suggested links too for some tips - I think I'm gonna need all the help I can get.

Kimmy and Twinmum, you're in. Good luck, ladies. I want to draw everyone's attention to the "You are never allowed to move" rule. It's a little hidden because it's a second sentence in one of the bulleted lines. Please don't pass over that one. When Pam read the original draft she asked me my reasons on that rule, and my brilliant reply was "I don't know. Just to be different."

So, there you go.  ;D

Thanks, Cub and Pam for clearing that up.  If I'd turn on the sound now and then, I guess I would have known "nooboos".

I have another question, this one related to choosing LTWs for the upcoming population explosion.  There is a wealth of information on the Forum and in Carl's Guide, but this is something I haven't been able to find.  Does anyone know if the "Culinary Librarian" LTW requires them to know all the foreign recipes?  Or can they get it by learning all the ones available at home.

It's a vanilla LTW, so you don't need to learn foreign recipes to finish that LTW.

I seem to remember that the vanilla LTW's changed from 'get all ...' (recipes, fish or whatever) to 'get x ...' where x is the number equal to the amount in the original game.

OK that's a bit confusing so, if there are 20 recipes in the original game and the LTW said 'get all recipes' in vanilla then it now says 'get 20 recipes' in WA.  This would mean any 20 out of the expanded selection.

Hope this makes sense.

How can I not play this one, I believe you got the  BB1 idea from a post I did on how many children have your sims had, so I guess I am in on this one.

No it doesn't. The LTW description for Culinary Librarian with WA installed still says, "Learn all Recipes." That's why Culinary Librarian is a little confusing. But, there's no traveling in this challenge, so someone just has to look at this as a vanilla challenge. Easy enough.

Ok, so "all recipes" means all the recipes they can get at home, right - is that what "vanilla" means?

Another thing.  I was making a chart as Metro recommended and copying down the scoring for my own quick reference and noticed something that had escaped me the first time I read the rules:  "no babysitting."  Ack!  You mean we're stuck at home with the nooboos?  Obviously it is important to read the rules VERY carefully.

Correct. For the purposes of this challenge, since traveling is not allowed, the Culinary Librarian LTW description is accurate.

Ha ha. Well, at least one of your Sims will need to stay at home.
