Exploring Union Cove
« on: December 31, 2011, 08:14:34 AM »
Since the first thread about Union Cove is becoming the place to go for problems with getting it to load, I thought I'd start one for people to express their appreciation, admiration, etc. I feel bad about saying how much fun I've having when there are people who can't even get into the place.

One thing I really like is how much personality the individual houses have. It's like staying in a bed-and-breakfast as opposed to some national chain. I've started a new decadynasty in danefaith's Modern-O'Co & Affiliates house, and the place is gorgeous! I'll never be able to afford to actually live somewhere like that, so it's a real treat to experience it vicariously through the sims. But then there's Joria's Faded Glory, which reminds me of the house a bunch of us rented when I was in college.

The other thing I like is running into sims I know from the Forum. One of my sims has met Sports Fan, and another has an opportunity to deliver a painting to Pam Marsden. I can't wait to see how many stars celebrity Pam has!

In short, this world is amazing and awesome, and I really hope everyone is able to coax their computers into running it.

I hear ya!
I am unsure if I want to save Elvis for myself, or hook him up with Norma Jean.. I always wondered what their kids would look like..
It just makes me Giddy to walk around and see The Forum people hanging about. I ran Into Carl at the beach.  And Pam sells books in the open air market... Too Cool for words.

I know this was done intentionally, but I love that the lot placement isn't only about where there's space.  It always seemed odd to me that I would have to place a dive bar next to a little subdivision full of families, or that the fire station was way out of town, or that sort of thing.  My Sim signed up with the Athletic career and then rolled the want to go to the gym.  Lo & behold, they're right across the street from one another!  How suitable!

Also, I moved my Sim into the empty dynasty lot.  If you look in map view, it's actually quite a long drive away from town, but there is a sidewalk down to the little shopping area and, once again, lo & behold, that's what my Sim uses!  She walks down the sidewalk and waits for a taxi there if she needs one.  Such a better use of her time than riding around town!

I know, and so perfectly they use that sidewalk. It is so pretty too.

I just put my sim in one of Lynley's houses and I have to say that the pictures I've seen of her work on the forum don't really do justice to how beautiful her houses are when you are actually playing in one.  I suspect that's true of all the houses in UC, too.

I agree with you Csquared, I doubt if professional city planners could have done a better job than the UC team did!

MarianT, You read our mind with this thread.  ;) We were thinking of a Thread for people to post images/discoveries of Union Cove to share with others or to make those without Union Cove want it.

Here are some images I took today of Union Cove. This first one is looking out from Union Cove out into the Cove/Bay itself and off into the Sea.

Here you can see the Moderator Lots and the Admin Hill next to the Waterfalls.

This image was early morning, before the sun actually has risen over the hills. Although that mist is due to my graphics setting it does add a beautiful touch I think.

Here is a Deer and a Guy at the Ruins.

Have you guys seen the open air market yet?!  It is consignment store/book store/food shop all in one and is absolutely brilliant!  It's located in the center of town and doesn't appear to take the place of actual shops dedicated to these functions, but it is really convenient to have all 3 registers in the same place.

Sorry I don't have a picture for you - I'm just getting ready to travel in a few moments and didn't think to get a screenshot when I was playing earlier.   Wish I could stay home and explore more, but my mom is waiting for me.   ;D

More! Is there a beach, other than the Pier?
So sad I can't have it in my game.

Oh yes indeed!  And it has a pool to swim in right in the ocean so it looks and feels like you are swimming in the sea.

I'm still amazed by that Military base, even after so much time! And so many more!¨

Now anyone saw pidgeons?

Or this?

EDIT: VampirePlasma, I have only these pics of the beach at the moment (beach is sort of blended into environment, and ready to be developed):

And there is a lagoon, and very beautiful but not routable areas at the edges of the beach.. I'll try to get some of them, it is really beautiful in game, even with low settings ;D

Ok, now I'm curious.  Have to go read street names.  lol

Here are some pics of a special friend or two.

By the way, that small starter farm is animal central!  I've had two stray dogs, 3 cats and herds of horses and deer there.  I've not tried to make them stay because I was practicing for a challenge, but when done with the challenge that is going to be my new best farm!

The Dynasty/Legacy Lot is animal central as well. Only when you're trying to build a house does a herd of horses gather on your lot.  ::)
