I saw some items in the build/buy catalog with EA next to them

Do you mean the store items? Unless you disable it, selected store items are visible in buy and build mode.

If you want to disable it -
If you go into Options, then General Settings. In there uncheck the one that says Enable Shop Mode. That will stop them from showing up in game.

No, it's just like advertising. If you click on them, you will be given the option of buying them with simpoints. You can't just use them because they are in the catalog.

Oh dear, sorry. I just realized this is on the console. Not sure if it is the same for the console as it is on the PC... sorry if the info I gave is not correct for console.

When you download things you frequently get more than just that one item.  It's often a package of items.
