I'm in.

The scoring is going to give me a headache (all numbers do) but I'm pretty sure I'll get the hang of it. And I think I'll need to do a test run again for this

I'm in.

Just to be clear though - we create 2 Sims but only one of them counts for scoring purposes...

Right, Nancy. Your other Sim is a "utility" Sim just to make things a little easier for your Politician. They can work as well if that's your choice, but they cannot go into Politics.

Me please Metro!

Once I've finished the other two challenges obviously. Looks like it's going to be a long, happy Sim filled weekend for me!  ;)

Thanks

I found my little mayor and funny thing is, he is the father of the BB1 challenge, lol.  So, I am going to have two parties and see what I can find out.  Should be interesting, to say the least.

This is what I found out.  You can ask for donations during he party and it does not go into the total at the end of the party, they are seperate.  I had my sim give a party, his individual donations were 6,387.  At the end of the party, I wrote down the donations that the guests give when they leave, then added them up and the individual donations were not included.

Oh, btw, count me in on this one Metro.   Will try to finish BBII, but not looking good.  If the lowest score could win, I would win BBII handsdown. lol

Salty, thanks for doing the testing for me!  :) You saved me a lot of work this morning since I had no active Politician file. I appreciate it. So, it looks like the rules basically need no amending. If individual contributions received during a Campaign Fundraiser party DO NOT get added to the total amount announced at the end, then it does not matter if players want to ask for them or not. Good news.

Forgot all about my little BBI mayor sim.  I have done quite a few political careers, but when they reached Leader of the Free World or Mayor, I usually changed their LTW, so he was the only one left, except the townies that are in the political field.  This should be an interesting challenge.  Thanks Metro.

You're in!  ;D

Also, for everyone's information I just added another restriction to Campaign Fundraisers—

....Also, you can never end Campaign Fundraisers early. They must run for their entire length.

That's an important one. It prevents players from cutting parties short and just exploiting them by spamming 4 or 5 in a day.

You can cut parties short? I didn't know that - I guess you just ask everyone to leave?

I'm going to start my testing tonight, sounds like a fairly straight forward one. I think I know how I'm going to approach - but then again I thought that about the career grandslam and my final strategy ended up nothing like I thought it would

Exactly. So, if you know what you're doing and can throw great parties, then it simply becomes an exploit and I just don't want to go there.

Good to know for the future though - some guests just don't know when to leave! Usually I just send my guys to bed and leave them to it.

...only 4:30... oh well, what's the point of being self employed if you can't decide to ditch work early to play heh.

It's time to kick up the sleaze factor. Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich and his wife, Patti, are making a special appearance for this challenge.
Rod (speaking to me):  "Hey, Tom, let me know if I can help your challenge in any way. Anything at all. I'm there for you. And let me just say, that Carl and Pam, wow, you're so lucky to work with pros like that. I remember back when I was Gov....."
Me: "zzzzzzzzzz."

I'm frightened by how much that Sim looks like the Gov.  The conversation sounds just like him, too!  Hilarious!

It occurred to me that because this event is so short, there's really no need to force someone to play at Normal lifespan if they would rather create the file and play at a longer setting to enable some more game time once the challenge is over. So, I edited the following to give an option:

  • Create 2 Young Adult Sims w/Normal OR Long Lifespan (relationship does not matter) in a brand new neighborhood. Make sure to leave Freewill on High at all times.

Here's hoping the image shows correctly.  If not, you can find it on the exchange under my name.

Well I am going to dive into this one as well. I don't know much about the political career so I will have to practice with this one a little but it will be fun!

Quick Question to clarify this for me. The note about the NPC's means that it is possible to score for 3 maids as long as they are different Sims?

That's correct. That's why you need to jot down names. And you would need to become Best Friends AND learn all possible traits for each maid to receive credit.

If my memory serves me correctly, you don't get the "ask to leave" option when hosting a fundraiser, but be careful about quiting a party.  I did that a couple of times and one of those times you didn't get any money.  So am I to assume there is no limits on parties?

Yes, there are clear limits in bold print on parties. You can only host the fundraisers on the weekend (Saturday/Sunday) and you cannot end them early by asking anyone to leave. I am unaware that you could not end a fundraiser early. I'm pretty sure with any kind of party you can "Ask Everyone to Leave" which would, in effect, end the party. But, this is not allowed, so hopefully it should not be an issue.

The only reason why I brought that up, when I was doing the experiment for the fundraiser, when I clicked on someone, that option didn't come up, but I suppose it was because I was at the beach front and not at home, so that might have been the reason.
