I am definitely late in the game, but I might as well give it a try. It is summer and I have plenty of time to catch up! :) Count me in!

I'll try this one out. Something to distract me from the chaotic Wishmaster's Challenge   :)

I finished my first challenge!!! Yeah :)

Thanks Metro for such a great way to bring excitment to my game. It was so interesting to play the game in such a different way than I normally do. I've never even been in most of those houses, and it was so fun to see them all! It was really hard to not change anything and to only buy 1 thing per house, especially in the beginning, but I learned a lot that I wouldn't have learned otherwise, so thanks!!

My total was $922,881  ;D

Question! Are we allowed to buy items outside of Buy and Build mode like books, seeds, groceries, bait, etc?? Mostly just books though.  :D

You can't buy anything except for your one object for your home/lot. I think your question has come up before and that is what was decided to keep things simple. If someone remembers differently please chime in.

1.  The one purchase per move refers only to Buy Mode items.  Things you buy from the stores are for your Sim's survival and skills, so they don't fall under the restriction.

2.  You have to stay in the town you start in.

um, we are allowed to buy things for survival and skills

Okay, thanks Norma. Sorry about the confusion, Sushi101. Sometimes all the rules start to blend together for me.

Hey Metro, really enjoying this challenge. I need to ask a question but think it might be too much strategy. If so please delete/modify.

If I collect things and then transfigure them can I put the resultant 'thing' on the ground overnight? It would be removed before I move again and so not adding to the value of the house.

Just need some clarification. Thanks.

I believe this came up towards the beginning of the challenge and I think the consensus was that you'd treat transfigured items like paintings — you just have to sell them right away. Dropping something on the ground entails you're changing the lot. I PM'd Pam on this one, so she can weigh in, but as of now I'd say no.

Plus the display case would be your one purchase per lot and you would have to buy a new one every time you moved.

Metro is correct.  No placing of anything on the lot, even temporarily, except for the one purchased item.

This one looks like fun.
Going to try this with a new family, the Duchy, Sunset Valley.

So, I noticed that I've been playing on normal lifespan this entire time, tried to change it to long lifespan but the option is grayed out, also can't turn off aging.  Any suggestions?

Never mind, turns out you have to start a neighborhood to be able to alter lifespan.

Right. If you have no existing files, then you would not be able to change life span from the Main Menu until you start a new game. Good luck in the challenge.

The truth is, you have to have ONE saved file in order to chance anything. That means if you are new to The Sims 3 (but not to the entire series) you can start a new game, save and then change the lifespan before it is 8:01 AM.
