Welcome to my Sims 3 Lifetime Wish Guide. This guide features a lot of powerful information that can help you to craft your perfect Sim. Included in this guide is a list of all lifetime wishes in the Sims 3. Additionally, you'll find information on what traits inspire each lifetime wish. You can also read about my research into how lifetime wishes are chosen based on traits, to learn how the system works.
This guide has been updated to support the Sims 3's World Adventures and Ambitions expansion packs. Look for the logos for expansion-specific wishes. The point values for some of these may have changed or require more from your Sim if you have the expansion installed. For example, The Culinary Librarian requires your Sim to learn all recipes. This will require some travel with the expansion installed, as you'll need to pick up the new exotic recipes. Give us a heads up at the forum if you notice a large difference between the value listed here and the amount your Sim receives. Keep in mind the ambitious trait will increase the value you see.
What are Lifetime Wishes? A Lifetime Wish (LTW) is a wish that a Sim hopes to complete before death. They are generally related to what traits you pick for your Sim. Therefore, Evil Sims may want to someday become Emperor of Evil or a Gold Digger. If they achieve their goal, of which the objectives vary wish by wish, they will receive a large reward of Lifetime Happiness Points. These points are also gained by completing normal wishes, and can be spent to buy upgrades for your Sim (such as steel bladder, teleporting and the moodlet manager).
Lifetime Wishes have been around since the Sims 2, in the form of Lifetime Wants.
What Happens When Sims Complete a Lifetime Wish?
When a Lifetime Wish has been completed, they have fulfilled their greatest desire and will no longer have a Lifetime Wish. You also cannot change the wish with the Change Lifetime Wish Reward (10,000 lifetime happiness points).
Change Lifetime Wish
Find the 10,000 point lifetime reward, Change Lifetime Wish. Changing the wish knocks off 10,000 points from the "profit" of fulfilling the wish, because of this expense. However, if you want to grab a lifetime reward quickly, and have met or nearly met the necessary requirements of the wish you want to change to, go for it. Note that the Lifetime Wish you can change to is still determined by your Sim's traits.
On the official forum and elsewhere on the web, you will often see Lifetime Wishes abbreviated as LTW. I refrain from using these acronyms, because if you use the term LTW and CC (Custom Content) they can confuse players who don't know this.
To see a list of all traits, and the lifetime wishes associated with them, check out my Sims 3 Traits Guide. You will find some of these lifetime wishes covered on my Lifetime Wish Walkthrough. I'll add more as time allows.
