The Sims 3: Law Enforcement
Dynamic DNA Profiler Lifetime Wish Walkthrough

By Pam Marsden

This walkthrough guide is for the Lifetime Wish of Forensics Specialist - Dynamic DNA Profiler, which is to reach level 10 in the Law Enforcement career track in the Forensics Branch.

I created two Sims: one to achieve the Lifetime Wish and the other to act as a utility Sim by doing the cleaning, cooking, etc. so that the main Sim doesn't have to spend time on those things and will get the benefit of the positive moodlets that result. Meet my two Sims:

Fox Mulder's traits are Ambitious, Athletic, Genius, Computer Whiz, and Artistic. Athletic and Logic skill are required for the Law Enforcement career and the Forensics Branch will also need some painting skill. The Ambitious trait will help Fox be promoted quickly. Lastly, the Computer Whiz trait is what it took to trigger this particular Lifetime Wish.

Dana Scully is Fox's wife and her traits are Angler, Green Thumb, Natural Cook, Handy, and Neat. All of her traits are geared toward maintaining the home as a utility Sim.

Fox and Dana moved to Sunset Valley and bought a plot of land up on the cliffside overlooking the ocean to give them the +15 Beautiful Vista moodlet whenever they are home. They built a modest one bedroom home and decorated it in soothing blue tones. I started them with an upgraded bed, refrigerator, stove, and shower to help avoid some basic negative moodlets. They don't have the highest quality, but they do have things that are a little better than the worst. Also, because of Fox's Computer Whiz trait, I bought them a computer for entertainment rather than a television. Fox used the computer on the first day to secure a job in Law Enforcement as a Snitch.

They both settled into a daily routine of work, exercise, and studying Logic for Fox and gardening, cooking, and fishing for Dana. Fox received a promotion to Desk Jockey after three days at work and then another promotion to Traffic Cop the following Monday after being on the job exactly one week. His salary is $50 per hour. He also now has the ability to be a pro when apprehending criminals. He had a wish to befriend his boss, Justine Keaton, so I had him invite her over and they chatted for awhile until she became his friend. This will help his job performance a bit. He also got Partner added to his Performance Markers, so he will have to spend time on the job chatting with his partner to keep his job performance up.

They have $2,000 in cash now and it's time to buy a chess table so Fox can increase his Logic skill at home. It's also time for an easel so he can learn how to paint to help make him successful in the later levels of his career.

By the middle of his second week, Fox was promoted to level 4 Patrol Officer and made a salary of $65 per hour. His performance markers changed to include doing reports. This means Fox will have to gather information on people by either questioning them or by rummaging in their trash. After compiling the information, he'll use the computer to write a report. The more he talks to a person, or "softens her up," the better the report will be. I'm having him learn the Charisma skill at the library to prepare him for the questioning so that he will have a better relationship quicker and will be able to gather more information. I'm using the trash rummaging as a reason to get Fox jogging around, too. He can increase his athletic skill as well as his overall health while jogging and snoop around for his report at the same time!

Dana is not the focus of this story, but I'd like to mention here that she is doing well at gardening. I've started giving Fox some of her produce to keep in his inventory for a snack whenever he gets hungry and is in a hurry. This works well, especially in the mornings when he's getting ready for work and doesn't have time for a full breakfast. He can eat a couple of apples and, while he won't get a positive moodlet from eating a good meal, he won't go hungry during the morning either.

At the end of week 2, Fox had been promoted to level 5 Lieutenant at a salary of $77 per hour. He's back in the office now and has the use of his very own police cruiser. He'll get to keep the car no matter what happens with his career now. It's great because they haven't spent the money on a vehicle and have been using a taxi to get around town. He still has to do his research and reports, however. Reports, mood, and partner are his performance markers for this level.

Dana had a wish to have her first child. They tried a couple of times unsuccessfully, but finally managed to get pregnant. Dana went into labor at the Day Spa on the same day that Fox received a promotion to level 6 and had to decide between being a Special Agent or a Forensic Analyst. He chose the latter and is now a Wiretap Reader making $135 per hour. Logic has now been added to his performance markers, along with mood, reports, and partner. His painting skill will now also come into play.

What is it about the Day Spa that seems to make women go into labor? I've had it happen several times and it's making me wonder. Dana gave birth to a little girl named Willa. All is well and the baby has the Genius and Loves the Outdoors traits. Fox spent some time with his new baby daughter and then got right back to improving his Logic skill by practicing chess.

Fox received his promotion to level 7 Crime Scene Technician near the end of week 3. His performance markers stayed the same and his salary increased to $159 per hour. Fox also now has a treadmill at home so he can build athletic skill without making trips to the gym. At the time of this writing, the athletic skill builds faster on a home treadmill than it does on a gym treadmill, so he should do a little better by having one at home. Fox also had a wish to buy something worth at least $1,000, so I took this chance to buy them an upgraded bed.

Reports are still part of Fox's performance markers, so he continues to question people and rummage in their trash. A word of warning about rummaging... try to do it when nobody is home because if they catch you digging through their trash it gets ugly. Poor Fox got caught by Justine Keaton and had to endure her insults. He insulted her in return and then she surprisingly agreed to be questioned. Rummaging often turns up some nice treasures that you get to keep. Fox has found an uncut emerald and a candle so far. I sent him rummaging in the Goth family's trash hoping to dig up something more than dirt on Gunther. You never know what kind of goodies the wealthy toss out. Alas, no virtual goggles this time. Only a rubber duck, bubble bath, and two teddy bears.

Fox aged up to adult at the beginning of week 4. He's also about halfway through level 7 in his career. He'll have to stay focused, but he should be able to reach level 10 and complete his Lifetime Wish long before he becomes Elderly. He had to work hard a couple of days in a row, but he reached level 8 Sketch Artist on day 2 of week 4, making a salary of $225 per hour. Painting has been added to his performance markers and the fact that he started building this skill during his Young Adult years starts him with a status of Excellent for Painting as he begins level 8. His other markers are mood, reports, and logic. He definitely has to put forth a lot of effort to make it to level 10, which is now one of his wishes. He provides the income for his small family, but he's not very involved with his wife and daughter due to his busy career. Dana seems happy, though, and has taken on the full responsibility of raising Willa.

By continuing to push Fox to work hard while at work, he was able to reach level 9 3D Crime Scene Modeler before the end of week 4. His salary is now $265 per hour. His performance markers didn't change with this promotion and he's got a status of Great on all of them. He'll have to work at his logic, painting, and reports to keep a high status and make it to level 10. He's also got an opportunity to bring an original painting to work for an increase in job performance. This came at the perfect time as level 9 will be the hardest so far to complete, and Fox just finished a painting the night before that he can take off the wall and take to work. With all the extra work Fox is doing, it's becoming more difficult to keep his mood up. I bought him a new and better computer to take advantage of his Computer Whiz trait. He's now able to gain fun more quickly by playing computer games.

Fox worked hard on Friday of that week and with the extra performance boost from the painting, I'm certain he will achieve level 10 on Monday. I decided to let him enjoy the weekend rather than constantly working on his career with reports and such. He spent some time getting to know his beautiful blue-eyed daughter, Willa, while she was still a toddler. She aged up to child later that night and they've got a nice start on a father-daughter relationship. He competed in the Amateur Olympics at the stadium and, while he didn't win, he had a good time and felt great afterwards. Willa is a genius like her father and if we buy one more chair, she can play chess with him. I think that will be a good way to spend the last Sunday before Fox achieves his Lifetime Wish and we bid farewell.

As I expected, Fox did indeed reach level 10 Dynamic DNA Profiler on Monday (week 5, day 1) with a salary of $397 per hour. He still has 13 days before he ages up to elderly. Fox will be able to continue in his career and build up to a salary of at least twice what he currently makes if he works on all of his performance markers, which remain mood, reports, logic, and painting for level 10. With this last promotion, their status dropped considerably, except for mood because he's quite happy at the moment.

We'll say good-bye to the Mulder-Scully family for now and wish them well on their Adventures.
