Distinguished Director Lifetime Wish Walkthrough by Pam Marsden
This is my walkthrough for the Distinguished Director Lifetime Wish. Allow me to introduce Piglet Snout.
Piglet's Traits:
Bookworm - This trait will make it easier for Piglet to learn the writing skill, which is part of being a Director.
Ambitious - With this trait, Piglet will always want to advance both in her career and her skills.
Workaholic - Piglet will be able to work from home and will default to the Work Hard tone while on the job. She will be able to gain promotions faster as a result.
Computer Whiz - My thought with this trait was to enable Piglet to hack herself onto the list for higher level clubs. It turned out that she didn't really need to do that because she could get into plenty of places on her own and it became a wasted trait.
Star Quality - This trait will make gaining celebrity status easier for Piglet, which is also part of being a Director.
Piglet purchased Crescent Bay Pied a Terre - a Studio apartment with one bathroom. She bought it unfurnished for $11,887. I added a nice quality single bed, desk, computer, small table for four, and a lamp. She had $1,288 left after the purchases. It's an upscale apartment with nice appliances, cabinets, and bath fixtures that needed no upgrades. By only purchasing what Piglet really needs, it was easy to have something cute and special without going completely broke.
The first thing to do was use the computer to get a job. Piglet joined the film career at level 1, Background Extra for a salary of $21 per hour. She's to be at work on Monday at 1:00 p.m. Her next wish was to work from home. She's such an eager little Piglet! She got stressed after only a couple of hours and fortunately got to take a break when three neighbors came to welcome her to town. They all grouped up and went to Waylon's Haunt. A quick game of foosball got Piglet back into a good mood and it was a great way to see a lot of Sims on her first night. A great start to a new life and awesome career!
While out on the town, Piglet met her first celebrity, Katrina Pala. The most successful topic was to discuss the film career. It impressed Katrina quite a bit and it took only a couple of film discussions to be able to interact normally with her after nearly flubbing it by discussing her non-existent wealth. Piglet got her own first celebrity star as easy as that. She is now a Fame Leecher.
Piglet didn't get promoted on her first day in spite of being a Workaholic. I changed her work tone to "Meet Cast Members" so she can get acquainted with all of her co-workers, so she didn't get her performance meter high enough for a promotion. It turns out one of her buddies in the previous night's group is her boss, Devin Ashton. It's interesting that he got all the way to Production Manager without being a celebrity. Piglet also met Tiara Angelista, a 2 star celebrity Best Girl. After work, she went shopping for groceries and some extra apples to keep for a quick snack when she doesn't have time for a meal.
It's a bit of a pain to go all the way downstairs to pay bills or get the newspaper. And canceling the paper isn't a good idea because that's where Piglet can find out which clubs are the hot spots for the evening. So, I drag the newspaper into her inventory while she's at work or wherever she happens to be, then I watch for her to enter the building and have her pay bills right then. It saves a lot of time spent in the elevator. Once the newspaper is in her inventory, she can read it straight from there. After the grocery store on her first day of work, Piglet went to the park to read the paper. Suddenly, there was *gasp* Richie Striker, 4 star celebrity! Piglet rushed to get an autograph and see if she could impress him. Well, talking about her film career didn't impress Richie much at all, but he was thinking about sports, so Piglet tried to impress him by talking about the athletic skill. Bingo! Only two interactions later and Piglet had impressed Richie. Good going, Piglet! They ended up swinging together while the vampire paparazzi took pictures.
Piglet's first promotion came on her second day of work. She reached level 2, Best Girl, at a salary of $28 per hour. She also met co-worker Reuben Littler and got a wish to impress him. When Piglet started her job, the only performance metric she had was mood and now that she's a Best Girl, she also has cast members as a metric. Getting on Reuben's good side will definitely be beneficial.
The first Lifetime Reward I bought for Piglet was Observant. This will be critical for her efforts to do well in her job and increase her celebrity status.
On her third day of work, Piglet got an option for film work outside the studio location. She could Pick Up Food for Shoot and earn some extra money, but it won't help her job performance and her performance meter will stay static while she's away from the studio. I chose not to do the extra work so that she can work steadily toward her promotion. It's a fun thing for players to do, though, and it gives you a chance to be out in the city and meet more Sims. She then got the opportunity to stay late and help clean up the set, which will help her job performance. It wasn't quite enough for a promotion, though. She met the last of her cast mates, Matthew Hamming, a 5 star celebrity. Piglet will probably be able to get all of her celebrity stars just by hanging out with her co-workers.
Right after work, Piglet went to a party hosted by her boss, Devin Ashton. It gave her a chance to befriend him, which is part of her wish to befriend all co-workers. Also at the party was 2 star celebrity Jeffrey Cook. Piglet naturally took this opportunity to impress him and increase her own celebrity level. It took five interactions, but Piglet managed to impress him. It didn't give her much progress toward that second star, though. She'll have to keep working it.
At this point, Piglet's work performance meter shows she's right on the edge of getting a promotion. Nothing she could do short of not showing up for work is going to keep her from getting it. It's a good time to spend the day hanging with cast members to help increase that particular work metric. It will also help toward that wish to befriend everyone. Indeed, Piglet got promoted to level 3 Key Grip making $39 per hour and she'll be getting off work an hour earlier at 6:00 p.m.
After catching a couple of butterflies and picking up some space rocks, Piglet headed home after work. While she was cooking some mac and cheese, none other than Richie Striker called up from the call box and asked to be buzzed in. Squee!! Richie Striker! Stopping by to visit Piglet! And he ate mac and cheese with her! It's just so exciting!! Piglet found out he's also married, so it's not quite as exciting as she thought. But he will be a great name to drop when she's trying to impress celebrities. And who knows, maybe Richie will decide that he really likes Piglet.
The weekend finally came and Piglet threw her first party. She invited a couple of co-workers and Richie Striker. She made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for everyone and had some music playing. She doesn't have anything else for a party yet and money is tight. Plus, she doesn't have room for the shuffleboard table she wants. Richie did show up and she chatted with him for awhile and got her second celebrity star to become a Notable Figure. When the party was over, Piglet grouped up with Richie and they went to The Grind together. She had a KTHXBAI drink and got the Going Wild moodlet worth +30 points. She danced wildly with Richie, but I didn't see them doing any of the awesome new dance moves that some of the others were doing. She did dance on a table, though. Girl knows how to have a good time!
It was back to work Monday for another day of hanging out with the cast members. She was again so close to a promotion that her work tone didn't matter as long as she showed up. She reached level 4 Personal Assistant with a salary of $55 per hour. Her work hours did not change. It also added Celebrity to her work metrics. She's ahead of the game right now with a status of Outstanding. After such a wild weekend, she stayed home to read and practice her writing skill. Her move to the directing career will come soon and she needs to be ready to write.
Piglet got invited to a party by Jeffrey Cook. It started right after work, so she took a cab straight there when she left work Tuesday evening. Jeffrey lives out in the suburbs, so it was a nice change for city girl Piglet. Matthew Hamming *gasp* was at the party and Piglet had gotten a wish to group up with him the day before. How convenient that he was at the party. She got an autograph and tried to impress him. He's a 5 star celebrity after all and definitely worth knowing. A measly 3 interactions about the film career is all it took. Piece of cake!
At this point, I purchased the Excellent Groupie Lifetime Reward. It will guarantee that any of Piglet's group outings will be successful. She got grouped up with Matthew first thing and headed to Aquarius to do some dancing for an opportunity to gain celebrity status. So much for time in the suburbs. The party was promptly ditched. While dancing with Matthew at Aquarius (still no awesome dance moves), Piglet gained her 3rd celebrity star and became a B-List Celebrity. Way to go, Piglet!
That Wednesday brought yet another promotion for Piglet. She's up to level 5 Production Manager and has a salary of $65 per hour. She still works Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. She's reached level 1 in writing and it's time to push on through to the next level. With Piglet's Bookworm trait, it only took her a couple of hours.
Another party to attend after work on Thursday. This invitation came from William Fangmann, someone Piglet doesn't even know. But why not? Parties can be quite beneficial to one's career and social life. And then... eek! William is vampire! Piglet got the hunted moodlet and has to either befriend this vampire or get away from him for it to go away. She got a wish to befriend him, so she hung around to talk to him for awhile.
At the end of her second week on the job, Piglet got promoted to level 6 and was asked to choose between the Actor and Director branches. She chose Director, of course, for her Lifetime Wish and earned the position Storyboardist with a salary of $96 per hour with a change in her work schedule. She gets to wear her first uniform to work now, jeans, jacket, a ball cap, and cool sunglasses. She now has Fridays off. She gained the work metric of Writing to go along with Mood, Cast Members, and Celebrity. Her Writing is Bad, and Celebrity and Cast Members are both Great. Lots of room for improvement in all of it. One other job benefit for Piglet at this level is that it will be easier to get into the various venues. Their celebrity requirements have been reduced by one. It's going to be a busy weekend for Piglet Snout.
Piglet thought she would spend the night alone in her apartment reading and writing. She fixed herself some mac and cheese and did do those things, but Richie Striker stopped by for an unexpected visit in the early morning hours. Poor Piglet was just exhausted by her busy week and was ready for some sleep, so she invited Richie to spend the night so she wouldn't have to stay up all night talking to him. They're good enough friends that he agreed and thought it was fun. Piglet packed it up for the night and went to bed, leaving Richie to do whatever he wished. He played games on her computer for a couple of hours, but then even he was exhausted and decided to share the bed with Piglet because there were no other places to sleep, or to even take a nap.
Richie took off the next morning and later that day Matthew stopped by. Just talking to him for a few minutes brought Piglet's Celebrity rating up to 4 stars! She is now a Renowned VIP. Piglet and Matthew went out together and managed to woohoo in an elevator. It was fun at the time, but Piglet is suffering for it because she got a Publicly Disgraced moodlet for -20 points that she had to carry for a couple of days. She didn't get a discount on bar food because of it.
Piglet's pattern of getting a promotion every other day continued nicely when she reached level 7 2nd Unit Director on Tuesday. Her salary is up to $125 per hour and her hours are still 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Cast Member metric dropped off at this level, so Piglet doesn't have to worry so much about her co-workers. I was a little surprised by this because I would have thought a director would need to always have a good relationship with her cast mates. She also got an opportunity to direct a commercial for the Military that will pay her and increase her work performance. And! She won the Sims' Choice Award. It will be a nice addition to her apartment decor. And! She's got her own limousine to take her around town. No more taxi! Our little Piglet is coming up in the world.
It's getting easier and easier to impress celebrities. Piglet impressed 4 star celebrity Emmy Star with only three interactions: two about the film career and one name drop (Matthew Hamming). However, it seemed her Excellent Groupie reward failed to produce a good time on this outing. She failed to get her Great Group Outing wish and got a Bad Time Out moodlet. Excellent Groupie is supposed to make sure that every outing is a good time. I don't know why it failed to do so.
There's a new work tone available at this level, Practice Scriptwriting. I used this one for Piglet because she's behind on her writing skill for her career. Well, it's at Normal, but she can do so much better. Directing the commercial for the Military gave her a career performance boost that will help make up for not using the Work Hard tone. She also got the Late Shoot career opportunity on this same day, but it wasn't quite enough to get that next promotion.
As a celebrity, Piglet randomly receives gifts from manufacturers simply for being a celebrity. Early in her career, she received a mounted fish which hangs on the wall. It's not something I would normally hang, but it was free and she doesn't have much decoration. At this more advanced level, she received a WallVuu Standard TV, which is so much nicer than a mounted fish! It required some rearrangement of Piglet's studio and it's getting a bit crowded with the addition of a bookcase, full size bed, and love seat. Piglet next received the Fresher Refrigerator. Awesome!
At the end of her third week, Piglet was promoted to level 8 Script Writer. Her salary is now $180 per hour with no change in her schedule. She now has the ability to write a screenplay, which can be sold. Unfortunately, Piglet's writing skill is now considerably behind. She's at level 4 and her work metric is an angry looking Horrifying. She's got three days off from work for the weekend and needs to make the most of it and improve her writing skill. Her Celebrity work metric is at Great. She needs that 5th celebrity star to get where she needs to be. She also now has the Multi-Tasker Lifetime Reward to give some additional assistance.
Piglet spent her Adult birthday working on her first screenplay, a science fiction piece called "Harry Potter Forever." When finished, she was able to sell it for $1,100. Then she threw herself a party that evening and invited a few friends. Matthew Hamming is a romantic interest and came to the party. She asked him to sleep over and he agreed, but he left with the other guests. Piglet isn't rude, so she didn't ask the last guest, vampire Johnny Jones, to leave when she was ready to sleep. She just turned off the television and music as a major hint that he didn't take. He turned the music right back on and started dancing. Piglet has no walls in the main part of her studio, so it naturally woke her up. Then, oddly enough, Matthew and Devin came back in. I guess they needed a smoke break outside or something. Much to my amusement, a couple of the guests had only gotten as far as the sidewalk outside before one of them decided to play some drums while the paparazzi took some photos. When Johnny Jones finally departed, the party was deemed a moderate success. Poor exhausted Piglet tried again to go to bed. At least Devin and Matthew didn't make noise to keep her awake. Devin finally left and Matthew stayed the night. Imagine my surprise to see that the heartthrob of Bridgeport sleeps in a bathrobe! The next morning, Matthew helped himself to spoiled sushi, threw up two hours later, and then danced while Piglet went to entertain sick kids. What a birthday!
Instead of staying cooped up writing the next day, Piglet visited the Butterfly Esplanade. She caught quite a few butterflies to add to her collection and sold the extras for a little cash. Afterward, she visited the Bridgeport Sports Zone, which was supposed to be the hot spot for the night. It wasn't. She was the only one there, so she had a drink and some onion rings, then headed home. The next day she completed an opportunity for a Broadway Cameo to earn some celebrity points and a sweet $5,000. She finally got back to her screenplay when she was done.
On Tuesday of her 4th week on the job, Piglet was promoted to level 9 Assistant Director. Her salary is $278 per hour and her schedule changed so that she gets off work at 5:00 p.m. Promotions have been steady throughout Piglet's career, coming every other day. Now that the end is in sight, can she get that last promotion in only a day? She's got a script to read that will increase her work performance and she can spend the evening working from home. Will it be enough with only four hours in her workday? She also won the coveted Green Orb Award. Ok, I don't know if it's really coveted, but it sounded good.
As Piglet heads to work in her new snazzy uniform, we wait with eager anticipation to see if she can Work Hard enough to reach her Lifetime Wish. Good luck, Piglet!
Oh, no! Missed it by that much. *Sigh* Good try, Piglet. It's really my fault for not pushing you harder, but work isn't everything.
Piglet was consoled when she received a free The Lexington bed from the manufacturer for being a celebrity. It was quickly re-colored to match her studio and put in place. It's a better bed than what she had and she'll get a better night's sleep on it.
After repairing her computer, Piglet decided to go to the Brightmore for the evening. She's got an opportunity to promote the restaurant to 3 Sims, so it might as well be celebrities at the Brightmore. Unfortunately, nobody at the Brightmore had the option for her to promote the restaurant. She had a fun time dancing, though, and finally broke out with some of those awesome new dance moves. Then it was back home and into her new sweet comfy bed.
Her day at work was spent Hanging with Cast Members. No need to Work Hard when the promotion is already in the bag. Sure enough, at quitting time, Piglet was promoted to level 10 Distinguished Director! Her new salary is $622 per hour and her final schedule is Monday through Friday, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Her final work metrics are Mood, Writing, and Celebrity. She also got her Director's Seat of Power for reaching the top of her career. With all of her work and extra opportunities, Piglet's final household funds at $23,309. It's week 4, day 5 of the game and Piglet has 15 days until she ages to Elder. She's still got a whole life she can live. Thanks Piglet, and may the Force be with you.
