The Sims 3 Artist - Swimming in Cash Lifetime Wish Walkthrough

A great way to make money in the Sims 3 is to be an Artist. With the painting skill, and the right traits and lifetime wish, this Sim can be truly happy and support a huge family. So far, being an artist is my favorite way to make money in the game. I chase this dream by making a Sim that would specialize in Art. He would love it in every way, and build the perfect environment for a master painter. His lifetime wish would be to have 50,000 simoleons.

My first objective was to figure out just how I wanted to build him. I decided my Sim would have the following traits. I think these are the best traits for an Artist in the Sims 3:

Traits I Chose for my Artist

The best way to practice painting in the sims 3 is to... paint!Artistic: This really serves to boost the rate he learns the painting skill. If he ever decides to pursue writing or guitar, it will also be easier.

Perfectionist: He'll take a bit longer to paint, but the outcome will generally be better. He'll also always make the bed when he wakes up, which means it will be easier to manage the bed being in the living room for his initial house.

Over Emotional: My Sim will get bonuses from good moodlets. Minimizing bad moodlets is not hard in the Sims 3.

Handy: Making all my things unbreakable, or self cleaning will result in much more time to be spent painting and making money. Preventing repair and upgrade failure is also nice.

Ambitious: My Sim can get lifetime happiness points more quickly because wishes that are fulfilled lead to more points!

Swimming in Cash: My Sim's lifetime wish. He desires to have 50,000 simoleons in his bank account. This is a cinch for an Artist.

This Sim will be designed to lead a very nice life full of happiness, fulfilled wishes and completed opportunities. He doesn't need much out of his home to achieve this. Just a basic kitchen, bed in the living room (expensive bed), an easel, and a small bathroom.

Early On
At first, my Sim paints many small paintings throughout the day. He can generally complete two or three of these every day. My goal is to complete the brushmaster and proficient painter challenges as soon as possible. Painting many small paintings unlocks brushmaster faster, which boosts painting speed and later leads to the capacity to complete two large paintings in one day!

There are some seriously cool paintings in the Sims 3.My Sim makes only one friend, to talk to on the phone every now and then to soothe his social desires. An occasional trip to the day spa prevents him going stir crazy, as well. I elect to skip buying any cheap household decoration, as I'd only replace it later. His days are very much the same for a while, as he must focus on making cash to pay the bills, buy food, and saving up for some decent decorations.

Doing well!
Once my Sim is receiving Painting opportunities, it becomes much easier to buy paintings for his house. I look for all wishes that pertain to the material, such as reaching a goal in simoleons. Once I hit that goal, I buy a few objects that raise his mood perpetually, such as statues and an indoor fountain. He often wants paintings, which is cool. I noticed that the paintings he makes doesn't really help to give the decorated moodlet, so I always sell them. If he wants three paintings, I buy them instead. They can go in the bathroom.

My Sim continues to improve painting and is almost a master. I want the iron bladder lifetime award, but skip it to save up for Extra Creative. Paintings begin to really bring in money around level 6, so my Sim is rolling in money. Once the room reaches beautifully decorated, I stop buying new things. After all, my goal here is to have $50,000 Simoleons on hand. Overly Emotional helps here, as it makes the beautifully decorated moodlet go from 40 to 50 mood boost.

Mastering the Art:
My Master Artist has finally hit the tenth level in painting, and soon gets the lifetime wish points needed for Extra Creative. After a trip to the day spa, he paints something valued at 3200 simoleons. I'm immensely impressed. With brushmaster, he can now paint two paintings in one day, which have a nice chance to be masterpieces. He'll never have to worry about money again. I decided this was the Sim I would keep, out of all the Sims for the character guides I've written for the Sims 3. I need a Sim that has everything, with every skill level at maximum and the Artist is the one. It's just too easy to be ultra-rich with this character.
