The Sims 3: World Adventures
Physical Perfection Lifetime Wish Walkthrough

By Tom Schlueter

The Physical Perfection Lifetime Wish
As Carl points out on the Lifetime Wishes page on the Guide, the Physical Perfection LTW is probably the easiest of all World Adventures’ Lifetime Wishes — all that’s required is maxing Athletic and Martial Arts. So, being the competitive player that I am, I turned this into a mini-challenge and wanted to see how fast I could accomplish this. Plus, this was an opportunity to detail some micromanagement techniques I often employ in forum challenges.

The Sims 3 Physical Perfection

Meet the Gonzales Family:

Speedy — Over-Emotional, Loves the Outdoors, Disciplined, Athletic, and Ambitious. All of Speedy’s traits are pretty self-explanatory. Since Speedy would be played for such a short time, I suppose Ambitious wasn’t really necessary. But, getting the extra happiness points after completing wishes is so golden to me that it’s become the one trait I choose for every single Sim. Over-Emotional and Loves the Outdoors were chosen to boost his mood while training — the higher the mood, the quicker the skill gains.

Gabrielle — Over-Emotional, Loves the Outdoors, Virtuoso, Artistic, and Ambitious. Lifetime Wish: Rock Star. Gabrielle won’t achieve her Lifetime Wish in this walkthrough. I created her mainly for...well, ahem...keeping Speedy’s mood high in short order. She will be a guitarist and I could not resist buying her the new electric guitar that comes with High End Loft. It was the only thing purchased before Speedy and Gabrielle left for China.

I plopped down Speedy and Gabrielle on a nice small lot in Riverview (451 Riverview Rd) and immediatelty sent them to China.

Go Ninja on the Base Camp. Before heading to the General Goods Merchant at the market, pause your game and open up the Inventory of one of your Sims. Open up both bookshelves in the base camp and click Take All. Don’t forget to swipe the small stereo as well.

Next, you need to hit the Shang Simla Market. The supplies you need for 3 days are:

  • Colesim 2br Edition tent
  • Approximately 20 High-Quality Dried Food
  • Training Dummy (to take back home)

This will set you back approximately $4k simoleans, but when you return home make sure to remember to sell all of the books in Inventory and you’ll be set to purchase exercise equipment to finish up the LTW as well as some amenities like artwork and a nice stereo to keep the mood high.

Going Mobile
Let’s pay homage to the great rock band, the Who, and call this technique “Going Mobile.” All this really amounts to is planting your Sim(s) and their tent in close proximity to where they will be doing their skilling. So, for a Sim learning martial arts, a tent right on the Academy platform makes the most sense. If your Sim is learning how to make nectar in France, then plop the tent down right outside the Nectary.

Before Speedy gets to his first session on the training dummy I made sure he ate some dried food, and Woo Hoo’d with Gabrielle in the tent to quickly boost Social and Fun. Speedy looks a bit too eager to eat was appears to be Carl’s leftover Chef Boyardee.

The Academy was hoppin’ on Day 1 of the vacation. Speedy quickly grabbed the only available training dummy (another Sim to the right of Gabrielle was also training). Al and Gao Pei join in the action. For all of Speedy’s martial arts training in China, I simply chose the Practice option on the dummies and never had him use the board breaker for fear of being sidelined with a hand injury. Sparring would have also just slowed things down with Speedy waiting for partners to show up at the Academy.

Tips for maxing the skills efficiently:
If you approach this LTW as I did and simply want to knock it out as quickly as possible, then it all comes down to this: as soon as your Sim’s Fatigued moodlet wears off, he needs to be ready for the next session. So, what that entails is putting him to sleep often, and making sure he’s fed and having a blast all at the right moment. It’s a similar technique to what a career Sim needs to do to leave for work with all bars green — if the work car shows up at 8am, then you need to work backwards and get them up at the appropriate time so all bars are green. Same thing I did with Speedy. If his Fatigued moodlet was going to wear off in 2 or 3 hours, I made sure to take care of everything ahead of time, so he’d be ready for the next training session on the dummy. In fact, an additional layer of micromanagement entered the picture when he was able to Meditate. Once he could Meditate, I took advantage of being able to do that while being Fatigued to get the Meditative Focus moodlet and the skill gain boost once Fatigued wore off.

I forgot to pack the electric guitar in Gabrielle’s Inventory when leaving China, so it was left behind. So, Gabrielle did not do much of anything for the 2 days off. In the mean time, the base camp books were sold and there was plenty of money to buy the Medusa’s Victim statue as well as a nice rug for the training area to give Speedy a Nicely Decorated moodlet. The new big stereo from the High End Loft stuff pack kept the mood even higher. Speedy gained another martial arts level training on his home dummy, and then our couple returned to China as soon as they were able. I noticed training on the dummy really resulted in slow gains once Speedy hit level 8, so I was curious if sparring would pick up the pace.

The Sims 3 Physical Perfection

Speedy decided to throw good sportsmanship right out the window upon defeating his first sparring partner. Speedy won a couple more matches, but to be honest, despite the fact that sparring clearly results in faster gains than training on the dummy, there’s the waiting for a partner to show up, so I really don’t know if the net gain for the same amount of time invested is much different than sparring or board breaking.

Board breaking seemed more efficient than simply training on a dummy, resulting in faster gains. So, for the last day of vacation #2, that’s all Speedy did was break a huge quantity of boards and ended up maxing martial arts shortly before the vacation came to a close at midnight.

When Speedy and Gabrielle returned home from their second vacation, Speedy’s Athletic skill had just hit level 6, so he had 4 more levels to achieve his LTW.

The Sims 3 Physical Perfection

Since Speedy starting working on a dedicated regiment to maxing Athletic when he was already above lvl 5, it was nice that he could always choose “Push Self” as the default exercise tome.It took another 3 days of workouts and Speedy ended up maxing Athletic and achieving his LTW on Friday morning of Week 1. Gabrielle maxed her guitar skill the day before.

Both Sims have a wish to have a child, so I may continue with them. Since Speedy already has Athletic maxed, I think the Military career would be a natural choice. There are lots of days off, so he could be around to help out with the little one while Gabrielle is busy in the evenings pursuing her Rock Star career.
