The Sims 3 Medical Career: World Renowned Surgeon Lifetime Wish
A Tough Schedule for the New Intern
No untoward events occur during the next night, and he manages to make it to work with a full mood bar. The third promotion comes on the third day just as I'd hoped -- he's now a Medical Intern. I'm a bit sad to see that he didn't yet bring home a medical research journal, which is now a part of his job requirements. His schedule is grueling too. He's got to work 10 hours a day. I really don't want him stuck in this position for long, so I push him very hard. He heads to the library to get the sixth level of logic and is there past midnight.
I realize something that may work in his favor with the long schedule. I try to get fun as high as possible, so that he can make the most use of workaholic. The only way to do this is to cut back on sleep and play on the computer. Energy only goes to about 75%. He manages to use the work hard style of working all the way from 9am to 7pm. Well, he could've, but thankfully didn't need to. The long day was quite good enough for him to boost the performance bar to the top and secure the promotion. He then does his boss's paper work which is a bit more relaxed.
Getting the promotion from Intern to Resident was a big accomplishment to me. His next work day is again long, but one hour shorter, ending at 6PM. I send him directly to bed. He's got a bit of work to do. Another medical career opportunity popped up to read a book. He also has a research journal in his inventory. Too bad he had no energy, because a trip to the library before bed would have been quite useful. However, he's gone to bed just early enough to take care of everything before work. He eats a filling meal, gets cleaned up and reads both Blood is Not Blue and the Medical Research Journal. They boost fun because of bookworm, and he manages to come close to having a blast.
At last the Research job performance metric has been bumped from average to nice, and, while he didn't improve logic, it's still good as well. He scores his fifth promotion in a row on the last weekday. He's now a trauma surgeon and will work nights, starting Monday. He gets home and reads his new research journal, then goes to bed to get some much needed relaxation. I decide to try to be constructive on the weekend. He prepares a nice lunch and invites his boss over to enjoy a meal, along with his new TV and comfy loveseat. He manages to make her his good friend, then tries to ask for a promotion. She turns him down, but they're still good friends. He simply didn't have enough job performance put in to get the promotion. He raises logic on level the next day, and tries to ask his boss once more (after doing a bit of work at home). Unfortunately, the cooldown period hasn't run its course, and he can't ask again because not enough time has passed.
I send him to the library after only a few hours of sleep. It's Monday at 6AM, and he has to be at work at 7PM. He gets to logic level 8, but I make a huge folly and send him to do a logic opportunity that popped up, hoping it wouldn't take as long as it did. I see his time is very crunched, and he has enough lifetime reward points, so I give him the steel bladder reward. He manages to go to work with only 2 hours of sleep and an almost empty energy bar. His one saving grace for the mood metric is that he sends off a $1,000 check to charity right before he hops in the car. This almost makes up for being completely exhausted. Once again, he defies the odds and scores another promotion. He's now a gene therapist and it's a relief that he has the next day (wednesday) off. As a gene therapist, the doctor is making $212 an hour now.
Immediately after the promotion, he had to work overtime. This was not optional. I said no way, with the upcoming day off, and sent him home for a good night's sleep. The performance hit can be made up. Afterward, he had time to de-stress and read his journal. I then send him after logic level 9 and a very well deserved trip to the day spa. He takes the great escape package for $1,000 simoleons. This will help ensure he's in an awesome mood at least until he reaches his lifetime wish.
Gene therapists only work five hours per day, and a bit of working at home just isn't enough to overcome the challenge of raising the job performance meter to the top in five short hours. The Doc inevitably has his first day without a promotion. Asking the boss turned out to be impossible because of her long shift that took all her time up. So, he'll never manage to ask for a promotion but hasn't really needed to until now. The next work day, he manages to become an infectious disease researcher, and will again contend with a five hour day. This time, I'm prepared and have him work at home over the weekend, along with reading his research journal and reaching logic level 10. He takes the multi-tasker lifetime reward. It's come a bit late in the game, but later it will help him earn promotions faster, boosting his salary at the top level job.
With the working at home boosting his job performance, he's able to max it in the five hours he has at work the next day and become a Neurosurgeon. Reading a research journal and attending work the next day are the final hurdles to crossing the finish line. He is promoted to World Renowned Surgeon the next day at work. The Doctor had a very successful career run, managing to have fun, work hard, and donate loads of money to charity almost every day.
