Welcome to my guide to the objects in buy mode in The Sims 3. This guide will be helpful in several scenarios. I'll provide some commentary about good deals you should look for, and objects that can get lost in the crowd. Many players come to the guide looking for where to buy things, so I felt it would be helpful to give them a landing area for searching. It will also be nice for anyone who wants to see a summary of all the things that can be owned in a normal installation of The Sims 3. The expansions have their own pages which give a fair amount of information about the new offerings they bring, and where they're found.

Some items are not listed in the Sort by Room section of buy mode and may go unnoticed by players. They may be oversights by EA or just couldn't be easily categorized. This mainly pertains to objects like the display case and nectar racks from World Adventures. You'll need to go to sort by function to find these. This is also the only way to see items unlocked by the buydebug cheat.

If you really want to view all of your decorating options, you should consider going into sort by function. That way, you can see every painting and sculpture available to you all in one area, along with other miscellaneous decor that may have gone unnoticed.

Buydebug
Buydebug is the Sims 3's buy mode cheat. It will allow you to purchase anything in the game. That way, if you accidentally delete something when editing a lot, you are sure to be able to replace it. To do this, activate the cheat console by typing Control + Shift + C, type testingcheatsenabled true, then a second command: buydebug. You can find under sort by function a question mark item in the bottom right corner where the special objects can be found.

In Buydebug you have a lot of power over your expansion content. You can buy martial arts, nectar making, and photography equipment here without actually traveling. You can also buy items like seed and metal spawners to aid in collecting. Celebrities in the Late Night expansion can get special perks and those can be bought here as well.

I have a couple of cool new offerings from James Giddings, who not only shared valuable data on transfiguring tiberium, he also gave us a couple of handy autohotkey scripts to share.

Folks who hate the long load time when first starting their game, especially when it comes to loading a Dynasty or Legacy file, will appreciate the first offering. Jagid's Autolauncher is not a mod, but will help you all the same. Run this script from your desktop after a brief and easy configuration, and it will automatically open Sims 3, cancel the video, load the most recent saved game and pause your game when it's done. Automating this process lets you go do something else with your valuable time while the game loads. The second offering is a gem cut calculator, which will tell you just how much profit you'll make from a gem using the various cuts available. Download it from our gems page.

Building Contest #10 is up:

"Once Upon a Time...." That may be the start of a story but it's your job to set the scene! How can we have a story if there is nowhere for the story to be set? What would the Pigs do without their three houses, where would Snow White and the Seven Dwarves live? They need their homes and they've got to be right from a storybook!

Pam's Dreamweaver DecaDynasty Story is up to date. Here is where we last left off. If you ever want to check for the most recent, see her topic on the forum.
