The Kids' Room houses all the specialized furnishings for children, such as Cribs and toys. If you'd expect to find it in a kid's bedroom, it'll be found here.

Beds and Cribs
The Beds category in this room type are not actually special. Sure, a single bed is all a kid will need but there's no race car bed for the little tyke to sleep in. For the little ones, you'll need a crib. The most expensive crib ($425) doesn't provide more energy, only comfort. So, the cheaper variety ($275) is probably the best value. When your little one grows up be sure to get them a good bed like you would for an adult so that they can have more time during the day to get things done, like learning for later.

Kids' Specials
The children's furniture section is where you'll find the high chair for feeding babies in the kitchen. You'll also find potty chairs for doing potty training when the kid's a toddler. These are both necessary for raising a kid well. To read more about raising babies, head to the Parenting - Raising Babies and Toddlers section of the guide.

Toys
Toys can be enjoyed by ages up to children and Childish adult Sims. The Wugglesworth Snuggles Bear is a must-buy for placing in your baby's crib. If they sleep with it, the kid can get a mood boost. The Sunnybrook Home Dollhouse is the most expensive toy, costing $625 and providing 7 fun for a single kid. This, along with the toy boxes and bear are the only "pure fun" toys available to kids in The Sims 3. Everything else in the toys category will serve a purpose later by helping the toddler or child to learn a skill. Little kids can even buy an oven here to help them learn to cook.

Kids Decor
The Kids' painting section here doesn't have any unique art for children's rooms, but the Children's Decor section offers a few selections. Items like a Train Set and Space Mobile will add that extra touch to make it look like a kid's bedroom. Keep in mind that children gain lifetime happiness too so giving them a nice place to play that's well decorated will give them more points available later in life.

More fun objects for kids can be found in the Outdoors section.

I have a couple of cool new offerings from James Giddings, who not only shared valuable data on transfiguring tiberium, he also gave us a couple of handy autohotkey scripts to share.

Folks who hate the long load time when first starting their game, especially when it comes to loading a Dynasty or Legacy file, will appreciate the first offering. Jagid's Autolauncher is not a mod, but will help you all the same. Run this script from your desktop after a brief and easy configuration, and it will automatically open Sims 3, cancel the video, load the most recent saved game and pause your game when it's done. Automating this process lets you go do something else with your valuable time while the game loads. The second offering is a gem cut calculator, which will tell you just how much profit you'll make from a gem using the various cuts available. Download it from our gems page.

Building Contest #10 is up:

"Once Upon a Time...." That may be the start of a story but it's your job to set the scene! How can we have a story if there is nowhere for the story to be set? What would the Pigs do without their three houses, where would Snow White and the Seven Dwarves live? They need their homes and they've got to be right from a storybook!

Pam's Dreamweaver DecaDynasty Story is up to date. Here is where we last left off. If you ever want to check for the most recent, see her topic on the forum.
