This Sims 3 Guide was originally written for the PC and Mac versions of the game, but also will help owners of the console versions - PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii. Please remember some info or numbers may have changed.
This is a list of all book types that authors can write in the Sims 3. Use it to help choose what types of books to write to maximize your profit. For example, books like dramas can take a long time to write, yet provide relatively low profit from royalty checks compared to books of similar size. In the table, look to the profitability column for my rating of how much profit you get per page out of a book type.
You forgot to add Horror and Poetry books to the list...My Sim has option to write them, but every time I try to make him write a poetry book or a horror book he jumps up from the computer, so please tell how to write those 2 kinds of books and what level they have to be at to write them.
That sound like a bug to me. Have you already tried to reset your sim before trying this again? Press Ctrl+Shift+C and type in 'resetsim name of sim' and press enter. 'Name of sim' should be replaced by the actual name of your sim.
Hey Carl, could you also add Comics to the list? They were added with UL, I can only assume. In the skill journal it says they average 61 pages and have a 1 for royalty rating.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll be attempting to update all lists to finalize the Guide over the next few months. This includes things like LTWs, LTRs, Deaths, and possibly a new section on Transportation. I'm doing these updates myself and it will take quite some time to have everything done, while some things are obviously lower priority (like book types) and will come later in the process.
I think it did come with University Life because it increases Street Art Skill in addition to Writing Skill. I had one of my sims write to help with her Illustrious Author lifetime wish, she wrote 3 comics, already went to level 4 in both writing and street art skills. I'm going to try to make her a comic specialist and then have her write a satire (which, I think came from writing 2 comics for some reason...)
Very true. My sim wrote a sports book for the first time recently and it took so little time to write, and made so much money, my sim hasn't really written any books other than sports just because of the amazingness of the genre.
