The Sims 3 Island Paradise Expansion - Learn all Underwater Treasure Chest Locations with this Picture Guide to Dive Spots
This page will show you all Underwater Treasure Chest Locations

At level 2, your Sim will get access to their first Diving Spot. These four spots have various difficulties, and each requires a higher level in the Scuba skill to access. This Guide to Scuba Dive Sites will show you pictures to help you to find each Dive Spot Location, Explorable Cave, Treasure Chest, and the rewards you will find for opening those treasures.

When you get messages saying you need a higher level to use an alternate exit, you don't meet the requirements to dive in the location it's trying to send you to, so level up and try again.

I'm not sure if this is a glitch but when i opened all the underwater chests they close and can be reopened with the same rewards. The map fragments were also in there again.

I am a mermaid which means i a level 10 in diving and i still get teleported back to shore....any ideas why?
There is a small glitch with the caves. There is a trick:

  1. Go to Edit Town
  2. Press ctl-shift-c
  3. Type testingCheatsenabled true and hit ENTER
  4. Press ctl-shift-c
  5. Type enablelotlocking true and hit ENTER
  6. Choose the dive lot with the faulty cave and click on the lock-icon to enable editing on the lot
  7. Grab the cave and let it go again
  8. Go back to Live Mode and try exploring again.

This isn't working for me. I followed the directions, after unlocking the padlock, clicked on the icon build/buy this took me to the lot (mermaid grotto) that I was trying to fix, because of cave glitch. It was just the ocean with a grid on it. I zoom in, out, tilt, rotate, and its just water. No land marks to click on at all. I have no mods installed, and this is the only cheat I've used in order to try to fix the glitch, I've already cleared caches. Can someone please help me?

The same thing keeps happening to me now when I try to go into caves or open treasure chests. This is still not fixed EA. I use the debugger Nrass mod to edit while I'm down there ctrl+shift to see how that Cave is programmed, copy that cave, program the new one and have to use move objects on to get the new cave in.

Destiny, are you paging down to the lower level to see under the water or are you having the same problem w/your sim teleporting to land when you ask him/her to explore a cave? If it is the latter, you need to go into edit town, unlock the dive spot lot (enable lot locking true/click on the pad lock), go down and grab the cave and put it down again. I've found that I need to have moveobjects on to place it again. If it is the former, you need to page down to see the lower level. If you don't see the colorful rocks and plants, you may be too far from it. The dive spots are marked by buoys.

Did what you said to stop myself from being tsken out of the cave area. I click explore, he goes to the cave, stops in front of it and goes right back to the beach. I'm so frustrated. Diving level is 8 so that's not the problem. I moved the cave and put it back down and everything else you said. Didn't work. Help!

I'm trying to do the lifetime wish where you need to make 40,000 from selling collectables found while diving but when I just sell them straight from my inventory it doesn't count towards my 40,000 do I need to sell them at a cosignment store?
You can't sell them to the consignment store. The seashells and fish you get while diving are the only things that go towards the career - is this what you're trying to sell for your LTW too?

Can you only scuba dive in the new world then? My sim lives in Bridgeport and she learned the skill, and it says she can now dive at rocky reef, but no dive spots pop up.
Dive spots are native to Isla Paradiso the way nightclubs are native to Bridgeport. You have to place dive spots in other towns. However, doing this can cause glitches. To find out how check out our official Island Paradise forum.

My sims have all the map pieces how ever they are on different sims. The mother has 2 pieces, and each teen mermaid (2) has a piece. It won't let me drag the pieces to one inventory and it won't let me reconstruct the map. Help!!
Map pieces can't be transferred to another person's inventory unless you kick them out of the house. Otherwise, you'll need to keep looking until you get all four pieces on one person.

The guide says that Rocky reef, the first dive spot, doesn't have a treasure chest. But it does. Behind some rocks. If you follow the 'ditch' from the cave to the end, then at the second ship fragment on the left you will see about 3 rocks, behind those you will find a chest. Forgot what was in it though

I am trying to find bottles with messages on them for a challenge that was asked of me, from the science lab.
But I've found a few, and already turned them in for another diving challenge. Now I cannot seem to find anymore bottles with notes in them.. Does anyone have any clues where these bottles with messages are? Or have they just been a random placed item and it's just the luck of the dive?
Thanks for the input, hope to hear from someone soon..
They are a random chance to spawn where most seashells spawn.

I think i missed something, After exploring all of these scuba diving spots i found two 'map peices' out of chests and one from a bottle. I'm still missing one map peice until i can find
my next uncharted island. Any idea where this last map peice is?
Check and see if your dive spots have reset the chests. Other than that you need to keep looking for bottles.

Ugh. The Diving skill takes too long to build so I can't test this out right away. I wanted to play another household in the same neighbor hood when I feel bored with my current one, but I still want to scuba-dive on the next one and visit the nice resorts I made with this household. I was wondering if I switch households would all the treasure chests I've opened already be opened in the next game? Or would I be able to re-open them as a new sim?
Some people are reporting that chests reset so you might be able to to re-open them.

When ever I try to explore the under water caves my Sims just floats in front of the cave and then teleports to the nearest solid ground. Is this a glitch or am I doing something wrong. My sims diving skill is at level 6.
I had this happen twice while I was leveling to level 10. Once I was done depressurizing I was able to get back in with no problem. It may be the level of the cave that affects it.

I was thinking this 'bug' dropping me off at a random shoreline was the game showing my Sim's inexperience with diving and sending him off somewhere he didn't want to be, like a massive failure while exploring that costs you your diving time. It struck me at least 3 times during the course of leveling Scuba Diving but am happy to report that at level 10 it happens very rarely and let me keep entering the cave, getting air pockets which allowed me to continue to farm for collectibles.

You need two mods. Go to Twallan's site at wikispaces and search the chatter box for Caves. There are several threads and the newest gives instructions and experience of several. If you haven't done mods before Twallan's site will explain how to construct the folders.

You will need the DebugEnabler from this site and a mod specifically for the cave from simsasylum by Simrod101.

I used these and they work fine.

You have the two treasure chests at Davy Jones' Locker switched. The one by the boat sculpture you can open at level 4 and the one by the rocks you need to be level 6, at least that's how it was for my sim.

Can you make a diving spot from skratch? I also tried saving the Pearl's Deep lot into my Library and placing it on a lot. I used these cheats:
testingcheatsenabled true
buydebug on
enablelotlocking true
I did place the dive spot but the seabed turned all blue, and I'm not able to colour it, though sims can dive there. I'm also wondering if there's any Fog Emitter Code List for this expansion pack. Thanks ;)
You can but it may never be deep enough for other worlds. Don't forget you had to exit to main menu before trying to dive in the new spot.

The Fog Emitter Codes were updated but I'm not sure that information was posted yet on the forum. Check back tomorrow and hopefully I'll have remembered to get the information out there.

Actually, disregard my last comment, if it even shows up. I found out that (at least, to fix MY problem) that all you have to do is focus the camera on your sim. Guess I wasn't doing that last time! I don't know about you guys, but that did it for me.

I had a similar glitch too, where exploring caves and then it teleports you to the nearest shorline. But, my sim is a mermaid (it's Harley Greenwood, not one of those mermaids you find while diving, and my sim married him so I can control him now) and so he has level 10 diving skill. Is this just because he's a mermaid or something? 'Cause I really want that uncharted island you find from Pearl's Deep and I can't get it.
Part of it is the mermaid thing and part of it is a glitch. If you try again and still can't get into the cave, try this:

  • Go to Edit Town
  • Press ctl-shift-c
  • Type testingCheatsenabled true and hit ENTER
  • Press ctl-shift-c
  • Type enablelotlocking true and hit ENTER
  • Choose the dive lot with the faulty cave and click on the lock-icon to enable editing on the lot
  • Grab the cave and let it go again
  • Go back to Live Mode and try exploring again.

I am trying to fix the caves sending me to the shore, and it only so far seems to happen in mermaid grotto (both of the caves in there). When I enter the 'testingcheatsenabled true' cheat followed by the 'enablelotlocking true' cheat the diving spots are still locked for me. After suddenly finding I can't explore the two caves in Mermaids Grotto I went back to Davy's locker diving spot and I can still explore the caves in there. I saw that something about wrong terrain level causing cheats to not work but that doesn't make sense to me.

Also, chests always remain to appear 'open' once I open them. Then again I haven't quit my game since I've started it (saved it though I'm not stupid) so maybe they reset when you restart the game.
