The Sims 3 Professional Sports (Athletic) Career Track
This Sims 3 Guide was originally written for the PC and Mac versions of the game, but also will help owners of the console versions - PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii. Please remember some info or numbers may have changed.
For your Sim to be in pro sports, head to the stadium and apply for a job. Sims in the professional sports career track will require plenty of athletic skill to get by. They'll have to win ball games, so make sure your Sim is in shape and in a good mood before sending them to play. Sims who reach the highest levels in this athletic career track will be able to use their superstardom to hold autograph sessions and make extra money on the side.

Good Traits for The Sims 3's Pro Sports Career Track
Athletic
The most simple and obvious choice. It should help with the rate your Sim learns the athletic skills, and thus help them to earn promotions faster.
Lucky
This may or may not be beneficial to the game record metric. Mood is certainly helpful for it, but lucky helps with career events. Thankfully, this should help with getting raises more often at any rate.

I don't understand how to get my sim to attend games on his game days I press "attend game for free" but it doesn't allow me the option to practice before in order to then play and I don't know why ??

you may have gotten an answer to this a long long time ago... but on the off chance you or anyone else is still trying to figure it out. Just have your sim go to work as normal on game days. He will have a pregame warmup automatically. As for practice, go to work on normal days and choose the option from the drop down box that appears in the upper left of your screen while he is at work.

I have a female sim, who's athletic is at 10, she's best friends with all her team mates but they have never won a game. And I don't mean lost by a few I mean they are dominated every game. Is this just luck or is it something I'm not doing right?

"attend for free" is for those who want to watch the game, not for those who are playing. For the athlete who is going to play a game in the stadium, he just goes to work as normal and on that day, they play a game. The other days of the week are for hanging with teammates and preparing for the game days. Just go to work in a good mood, make sure to "hang out with teammates" at least one day, and "prepare for game" another day during the week before game days. On game day, go to work as normal and he will automatically play in the stadium

Are all your career metrics green? You know all of your teammates and you've been using the prep for game option on the day before the game? Athletic is as high as it needs to be? Have you cleared your caches recently?

It says Sports Legends get less money per day than Superstar Athletes, despite being the next rank up. Is that a mistake? Is it less hours, or more pay, instead?

I haven't noticed a pay difference. My sim is both a sports legend and a pro athlete. He still gets raises. I thought the autograph was in addition to the regular work days. I have never noticed my sims pay go down. That isn't to say it didn't happen, but I imagine with pay raises, continuing to go to work in a good mood, being athletic, hanging with teammates at least one of the days during the work week at work etc., and your sim would continue to get raises. That is how mine is doing as far as I can tell

I can't work out the pay just from this page. Does the Superstar Athlete get paid just for training, just for matches or both? If both, by my calculations this career would have the highest earnings per week, due to working 7 days of it.

I switched job from Agent to MVP Athlete and even though all stats are green, the games record have all been losses and I can't win at all! My games are Away: 12 to 1 or 2 for home. Any fixes?

Even tough its (very) late , I am going to share things that didn't explained here and some tips as I played it again recently:
1) to prepare game, there is work mode/option that says "prepare for game" chose it, and if you hover to job mode/option, there is a progression bar. One day full of "prepare the game" mode is enough. The bar reset every game played.
2) to play game, just go to work as usual on Wednesday and Sunday
3) Somehow, You can't win games where stadium that have 2 function.
4) If you win the game, you get 10X of work hour salary.
With University Life expansion, you can make serious money with this job. Phys Ed degree with A GPA will give you about 1000/hr wage at level 10 career. 3hr of 4 day job = (1000*3*4) + win games 2 times a week (1000*10*10) = 12.000 + 20.000 = 32.000 per week

My sim is at level ten with athletic and his career but I don't see the sign autograph session anywhere. How do I get it to pop up. P.S. I never started a autograph session yet due to me not finding the Icon can you help me please
