Carl's Sims 3 Guide - Skills, Traits, Careers, Rewards, and Lifetime Wishes for Ambitions and World Adventures

The Sims 3 Law Enforcement Career Track

This Sims 3 Guide was originally written for the PC and Mac versions of the game, but also will help owners of the console versions - PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii. Please remember some info or numbers may have changed.

Law Enforcement Career Track in the Sims 3To join the Law Enforcement career track, have your Sim apply at the police station. This career track has two branches, forensics and special agent. Both have slightly different requirements, but each require the logic skill, so that is the preferable skill to start with. Sims in Law Enforcement will need to write reports on other Sims. Do this by rummaging in trash or talking to them to learn traits. Once you've learned some, the report can be written on a computer. At level 5, your Sim will get keys to their own patrol car. They can keep this vehicle after they quit the job, which is very cool, as the car looks sweet.

Law Enforcement Career Track Events

There are a number of interesting choices you can make in this career track, early on. Your Sim's partner may want need a hand after a bad day, and your Sim has the option to take the fall. Either you'll help your partner (hurt relations with boss, boost partner) or let them take their own heat (boost relations with boss).

You may be faced with a choice to either accept or decline a check. If you take it, your Sim seems to face no negative consequences. If you don't, you can boost your office relationships.

Forensics Sims may catch another Sim impersonating the mayor and get an immediate $2,000 bonus. There are no other events for this top level spot.

Super Spies get more events, and may also earn an instant bonus. They can get permenant raises unlike Dynamic DNA Profilers. However, the analyst has the perk of being able to do forensics research. Super Spies can only raid the criminal warehouse so often.

Law Enforcement Career Opportunities

Your Friendly Neighborhood Police Officer
This opportunity requests your Sim to head out and meet three of their neighbors at home. Visit three households to complete it. It will raise the job performance bar and relations with the boss.

Good Traits for The Sims 3's Law Enforcement Career Track

Logic is important for the early levels of this career track. While the super spies won't need logic to excel once they've reached the branch, it will help them get there if they can raise logic more swiftly. This could be skipped for them, but forensics analysts will use it heavily.

Sims shooting for International Super Spy should take this trait to help them build athletics faster. It's not necessary for forensics, however.

Painting appears as a performance metric at the eighth level of forensics. Why? For blood spatter analysis. Work on your Sim's painting skills early if they want to be in forensics and this skill requirement won't catch you by suprise. Take this trait to make that effort go faster.

I'm at level 10 international spy and I've questioned numerous people but when I go to the laptop or computer the report option isn't available :/
You have to do it within 12 hours and if you go to work before starting it, you lose the abliity to write about that person.

i don't know how to do my reports...Can anyone help me???
To do a report, you need to question someone or rummage in their trash can then you can go to a computer and write a report on them under the "Writing" option.

One cool side bonus of having a Sim involved in Law Enforcement: Athletics challenges. I have had Sims every working day using the workout facility, which raises both the Strength and Cardio metrics. Within two working weeks, I had both the Fitness Nut and Body Builder challenges completed (which would then make the Marathon Runner challenge a snip to complete with no fatigue whatsoever!)

Hello, I am not getting police uniform..... I am at Level 3, traffic cop. And I can't write reports, the Report option is not coming please help me getting a cop uniform.
Did you try planning an outfit and see if it was there for career outfit? As for reports, you have to actually question someone or rummage in the garbage before it will show up.

Guys, before you question a sim, make sure they see you as 'being friendly'. Otherwise you will keep getting them bored or thinking your impolite. And also, you can find out their traits and career & then write a report.
Good luck :)

I 'got' a police car, but I dont see it? do i need a driveway or a garage to actually see it?

the police car goes into your family inventory. youll find it in the family inventory section under build mode. the game does that because not everybody has a parking spot for the car when they receive it
Actually in my experience, that car goes directly into the Sim's personal inventory but it's possible that it will go into the family inventory as well.
