Clothing Tab

What our Sims wear can say a lot about who they are, just as in real life. Let's look at selecting clothes for our Sims. When we enter the clothing tab, we start with everyday wear, but we also have the choice to choose clothes for formal wear, sleepwear, athletic and swimwear. When we create a Sim, they will automatically be given an outfit for each of the five categories. You can choose to accept these outfits or you can decide what your Sim will wear. To select an outfit, choose one of the category selection tabs and you will be presented with the clothes that are available for your Sim. Note that not all clothes will be available in all categories, plus some clothes also have an age restriction and are only available to certain age groups.

Within a category, clothes are divided into three main subsections - tops, bottoms and outfits. Tops and bottoms will form the pieces of a two part outfit, while outfits are combined tops and bottoms or dresses. If you select a top or a bottom piece of clothing, the game will automatically choose an item for the other half until you choose one.

As well as clothes, we can choose what shoes our Sim will wear. The game will randomly select a pair of shoes until you choose a pair to replace them.

We can also add a number of accessories to our chosen outfit. From the accessories category, we can choose things like glasses, jewellery, gloves, socks and stockings. Accessories will be replaced with another accessory that goes in the same place. If you want to remove an accessory, find it in the library (it will have a red arrow on the image) and click that selection again.

We can further customize our Sim's outfit by recoloring some or all of it. To recolor an item of clothing or an accessory, make sure your Sim is wearing it and click on the Create A Style button on the selection panel. For a detailed look at using the Create A Style tool, you can find a guide to it here.
