The Sims 3 Musician (Rock Star) - Golden Tongue Golden Fingers Lifetime Wish Walkthrough
One of the cool features in the Sims 3 is the ability to play the guitar for tips. I decided I'd try to make a rock star who'd start out playing for tips and later move up the music career track. This is one of the more unique ways to make money in the Sims 3, and I found it to be satisfying although a bit too easy! In knowing that my Sim would be standing around playing guitar for a huge chunk of the day, I built the character with the following traits:
Loves the Outdoors: For much of his life, my Sim will be standing on the street corners playing guitar. I decided I could keep his mood up, and keep the lifetime wish points moving upward if I gave him this trait. Playing in the park will help even more, as he'll get two bonuses to being outside.

Party Animal: This fits the rock star persona, and if my Sim wishes to have a party at any point, he can throw a great one with this trait.
Virtuoso: My Sim will rise in the guitar skill faster, and make more tips in general.
Artistic: This trait serves only as a minor boost to the guitar skill's learning rate for this Sim's purposes.
Charismatic: My Sim is pursuing the Golden Tongue, Golden Fingers lifetime wish. With this trait, I get a boost to the charisma learn rate and my Sim makes friends faster. I can only assume this also boosts the rate you'll gain friends from playin guitar.
Lifetime Wish: Golden Tongue, Golden Fingers: My Sim aspires to learn and maximize both the charisma and guitar skills. This will be a cinch with the above traits. Overall this doesn't seem like a very difficult lifetime wish.
I know that you can play guitar for tips in the Sims 3, but I also know that you have to reach level 5 first. With that in mind, I build my Sim's house so that I have just a bit left over to cover bills and meals. A guitar is vital, but any other source of entertainment is useless to this Sim. He is happy standing around playing guitar all day! I originally had a Television in the house, but found that I'd never used it so instead decorated the house a bit so that he'd have a slight 'decorated' moodlet when at home.
Early Game
My Guitar Hero Sim heads out on the first day to play guitar for the masses. I really shouldn't have bothered with the trip due to not being able to play for tips until level 5. Still, my Sim manages to gather a dozen or more acquaintances who stopped to listen to his music on the street. This is one of the big boons of the guitar skill. People love your Sims for playing so much they become their friends without ever talking to them. My Sim makes his first few friends very quickly within the first few days, and reaches level 5 guitar skill so he can finally play for tips.
The tips from the guitar skill are not that great at first, starting in the teens. The Sim really has to stand around all day from dawn to dusk playing to make a nice profit, but this is fine because he is elated, always! His own music gives him the enjoying music moodlet, the fun meter gradually fills to full giving him 'having a blast', the park gives a bonus as well. Couple all those with the loves the outdoors trait and the occasional new friend moodlet and my Sim has a full box of positive moodlets. He wakes every morning, eats a meal of waffles (I keep it waffles because he can get better at cooking that specific dish), then heads to the park to play.

Midgame
My Sim has given up on cleaning house. He calls maids and repairmen every time, because time is money! Guitar skill maxes out, and my Sim occasionally sees tips up to $80 in simoleons. The money isn't really flying in, but the Sim has no real desire to be home. This means I don't really have to buy anything but a new kitchen, bed and ornamentation for the house. My Sim's savings will come in handy when he quits his job playing for tips and moves on to the music career track.
Learning all the songs for the guitar is not hard. In fact, the only ones you don't get from skill levels are available at the bookstore. It isn't long before level 10 is reached and all songs are mastered. My sim has at least twelve full-on friends at this point, and knows practically everyone in town. He starts cutting back on his hours at the park and works more on the charisma skill. Taking classes helps, and occasionally appears as a wish that I can promise to him. Keeping this up, charisma rises very rapidly.
Wrapping Up
Now that my Sim has mastered guitar, and almost mastered charisma, I elect to start the music career track. Befriending the boss and co-workers is as usual a must. It really helps the promotion bar to raise faster. My Sim gradually rises up in the career and at level 6 switches to the Rock career track, one of two branches in the Music field. He begins further wooing his boss and making friends with co-workers. With the charisma skill mastered, my Sim achieves his lifetime wish. He ascends to the pinnacle of the Rock career track and can now be considered a full-fledged rock star. From here, my Sim can start a filthy rich family and put his partying days behind him.
