Carl's Sims 3 Guide - Skills, Traits, Careers, Rewards, and Lifetime Wishes for Ambitions and World Adventures

The Sims 3: World Adventures
Visionary Lifetime Wish Walkthrough

By Tom Schlueter

Next: Wrapping up the Lifetime Wish

Maxing Painting and Photography. That's it. The Visionary Lifetime Wish is unquestionably one of the easiest in the game. Hmmmm...think, think, think. I need to create a Sim that would turn a cakewalk LTW into a real challenge....

Open Your Eyes to Stevie Wonder: Visionary. With more than 30 U.S top 10 hits, 22 Grammy Awards, and album sales totaling more than 100 million units, what could possibly spur this landmark musician to even greater artistic heights? How about taking up painting and photography? Think about it.

I bought Stevie the 100 Redwood Pkwy lot in Sunset Valley. He turned around after the above photo, surveyed his new digs and said, "Thank you, Tom. I love my new house."

Stevie's Traits:

Artistic
With all of his musical accomplishments who would doubt this? Are you kidding me? What instrument can't this guy play? I played drums in a high school rock band and Stevie wipes the floor with me. But, he's going to have to summon all his god-given artistic ability if he thinks he'll ever earn more than 5 Simoleons from a painting or a photograph.

Ambitious
If you're born blind, then you'd better be ambitious if you intend on eventually pursuing skills like painting and photography.

Loves the Outdoors
Seeing the Beautiful Vista moodlet pop up for Stevie is just a constant source of amusement.

Over-Emotional
If he can actually pull off the Visionary Lifetime Wish this trait could very well make his eyes pop out of his head from so much excitement. Sheesh, then it would be back to square one.

Photographer's Eye
One of the new World Adventures traits that fires the Visionary LTW. Stevie is going to learn photography faster with this trait. Good thing too because without it we'd all be waiting for the sun to burn out about the same time Stevie would gain a single skill level.

A few weeks before our story actually begins, Stevie received a critical life-changing phone call. The Sunset Valley Hospital informed him that he could recover some of his sight if a experimental surgery was successful. Stevie's a player and immediately went to the hospital.

YES! YES! YES! The operation was a complete success! Stevie Wonder bolted out of the hospital proudly able to now fulfill his Lifetime Wish. The doctors were able to restore 1% of his vision. Hooray! Time to get work!

As Stevie rode home from the hospital in the taxi he got 2 nice starter wishes: Learn the Painting Skill and Take a Class in Painting. Perfect. That's actually the route I wanted to go - Painting and then Photography because going to Egypt and buying the most expensive camera would need to be put on hold anyway for funds. So, these 2 wishes will provide some nice early Happiness points.

I actually didn't purchase an easel for Stevie immediately. As is the norm for many of my characters I usually lay some basic groundwork with cooking, gardening, and handiness before the meat of what needs to be done is addressed. So, Stevie tackled the Improve Speakers upgrade and the AutoWater upgrade for his garden. Of course, the downside to any of this initial groundwork is that the fun bar really takes a hit - especially for solo Sims. Hey, if you were blind and were ordered to upgrade speakers you wouldn't be having fun either. I don't know what the chance of being electrocuted for a non-Handy Sim is, but in Stevie's case it should probably be 100%. But, by some act of god, he was spared that misfortune and survived.

So, after 2 days of initial prep work, Stevie is ready to begin work on his Lifetime Wish. He purchased an easel, but called his bandmates for a favor. He asked them to make a group decision and put the easel in an appropriate spot to foster creativity. Good friends are hard to come by.

Stevie's very first painting. It's a big moment and deserves a special title. Stevie aptly calls the painting "I can't wait to return to music."

Stevie's social bar was beginning to tank hard, so I sent him to Old Pier Beach pronto to meet someone. Erin Kennedy was there drowning her troubles away at the bar and she and Stevie hit it off pretty quick.

Erin: "Your music inspires me."
Stevie: "Thank you, Erin. I've now taken up painting and I'm going to paint a portrait of you wearing that gorgeous pink and yellow clown costume you have on."

Stevie's a man of his word and invited Erin over to look at her portrait he had just finished. She loved it. She even wore his favorite clown costume. Sensing the opportunity to take the relationship to the next level, Stevie stoked Erin's ego and said, "I bet you take after your mother's side of the family."

End of Week 2. I've mentioned this in several of my walkthroughs involving painting, but it bears repeating: always go for small canvas size initially. You'll achieve the 3 painting challenges much faster.
