The Sims 3: World Adventures
Seasoned Traveler Lifetime Wish Walkthrough
By Pam Marsden

For this Lifetime Wish, I created renowned traveler and explorer, Marco Polo, with these traits:
Adventurous: This one is a natural for any Sim who plans to travel and explore tombs. He'll get an extra positive moodlet from being inside a tomb and will get lots of wishes related to traveling.
Brave: It can be scary exploring tombs and the Brave trait will keep Marco from experiencing fear when he encounters nasty bugs in the wall holes. He'll be able to carry on with his explorations with no trouble.
Disciplined: This trait will enable the quick learning of the Martial Arts skill, which will be important for a series of adventures in China. He'll also be able to fend off any mummies that he may encounter. Hopefully.
Loner: Marco will be spending a lot of time alone, so this trait will give him a positive moodlet when he's enjoying the solitude. It will also help keep him from being lonely.
Charismatic: This trait seems to be the opposite of being alone, but it will be helpful for the adventures Marco has that involve talking to the locals. He'll be able to befriend them quicker and therefore get his information quicker.
Marco arrived in Sunset Valley and purchased the least expensive lot for $1,200. The location is 18 Maywood Lane, which is in town, but Marco will only be spending short periods of time there between his travels. The beautiful vista moodlet won't be as important and he can use the extra money to finance his first trip.

Marco didn't bother building a house, but rather went straight to the police station to join the Law Enforcement career and fulfilled his first wish. Next was a trip to the library to get started on his Charisma skill by reading the first book. He also took a Charisma class and reached level 2 on his first day in town.

Seeing no need to delay, I had Marco travel to Al Simhara, Egypt to fulfill his first traveling wish, worth a very nice 2,250 Lifetime Happiness points. The trip was for three days and cost $1,600. When he arrived in Egypt, Marco had $13,300 in family funds. The first thing he did was check the Adventure Board, of course. The first adventure to come up was "Business Abroad," which is the first in the MorcuCorp chain of adventures. He checked in with his contact and was given his first task to find some papers in the Tomb of Discovery. Before heading out, he visited the local market to get some supplies. He also wants a snake charming basket, which he will no doubt become addicted to and play every free second of the day. But those LTH points are important early on because he needs to purchase Jetsetter and Prepared Traveler as soon as he can so that he can spend less and stay longer in the locations. So, a snake charming basket he shall have (not really, because I turned around and sold it). He also bought the ChannonTec Outlaw SE camera for $850 so he can take some pictures in the tombs that can later be used for quick and easy Visa Points in future adventures.
The first trip to Egypt was a success and Marco left with a level one Visa, two sigils, a couple of gems, and some relics. And a bruised ego from being defeated by his first mummy, encountered in the Tomb of the Burning Sands. I wasn't ready for him to fight a mummy yet because he has no athletic or martial arts skill, but he had a wish to defeat a mummy. Right. Didn't happen. He ended up passed out on the floor until his vacation time ran out. Thankfully, there was no Mummy's Curse.

Returning home, I sent Marco to the park for a free meal and to gather some wild fruit. He still has no house and will sleep in his tent for the time being, which means he has to bum around town for a bit. We'll see how that goes. His first night home, he pitched his tent in the park after making friends with Hank Goddard, who turns out to also be in Law Enforcement. The next morning, he freshened up a little in the public restroom and headed to work. The second night found his tent inside the gym beside the pool. Alas, adventured calls and Marco rushed back to Egypt the next morning before work. Now with a level 1 Visa and the Jetsetter reward, Marco was able to travel for five days for $1,750.

Back in Al Simhara, Marco went back to the Tomb of the Burning Sands to finish his adventure. No mummies this time and a little more treasure. The important thing, though, is to rack up those Visa points so he can complete his Lifetime Wish. So, he continued on with this adventure chain for the mysterious MorcuCorp. He finished up the adventure at the Criminal Headquarters before it was time to return home. He came away better financially this time, having found more treasure and two pieces of mummitomium to keep.

Once back home, Marco went immediately to work. He made a few bucks by taking a paparazzi picture of Christopher Steel, and made friends with him to boot. After spending the night again in the park, Marco quit his job the next morning. It looks like he will be able to support himself with his adventuring and he can better spend his time in the gym or practicing his Charisma skill. The Lifetime Happiness points are rolling it at a good clip and Marco now also has a Steel Bladder and Complimentary Dining for the few nights he's home. He's got over $20,000 in the bank now and I think he can build himself a house after his next trip, which will be to China. Sand dunes can wait a bit while Marco can hopefully train in Sim Fu.
Before leaving for China, Marco made a trip to the gym to pump some iron. On his way to the showers, he met Madison VanWatson. A little surprisingly, they hit it off. They talked, joked, and went to dinner at the Bistro. By the end of the night, they were best friends. But Marco is restless and must explore Shang Simla, so he left her standing outside the Bistro and jumped into a cab.
Finally in China, Marco went straight to the adventure board and received the Treasure Hunter adventure. He stopped at the market for some relics and supplies, including a nicer Colesim tent for $2,700. This tent will give him a much better night's sleep because it's more comfortable. He'll be able to get the positive moodlet, too. Now it's off to the Halls of the Lost Army! The only other adventures he was able to complete were Telescopic Metal and Pottery of Peculiar Properties. He spent some extra time during the Telescopic Metal adventure collecting metals to keep for himself. Once smelted, Mercury, Platinum, and Plutonium are quite valuable. After an exhausting three days, Marco was ready to return home and had earned a level 1 Visa in China.
Marco found himself with over $40,000 cash in the bank and was growing tired of showering at the gym and sleeping in a tent. He purchased a modest craftsman home on Sim Lane, did some upgrading of the furnishings, added a computer and an easel, and made himself at home. He also bought a cheap yellow jalopy for getting around town. Not a bad way to pass the time between travels.

It was soon time to return to Shang Simla. Marco booked a trip for five days this time. Surprisingly, almost all of his adventures were of the collecting and talking variety. He got his Charisma skill to level 9 and completed the Celebrity and Personable challenges in his skills journal. When he introduces himself to someone now, he learns four traits and they are instantly his friend. This is exactly what I wanted to achieve with Charisma. He can now get information from the locals very easily and quickly. The adventure to learn Sim Fu didn't appear on this trip. I didn't have him spend any time learning it on his own because I want him to get the Visa points for working through that particular adventure. So, he spent his time romancing one of the locals instead, which will probably result in fatherhood for our hero. Alas, he will not be able to stick around for Sun Young Kim's pregnancy. He was able to get started on the Confounded Boulder! adventure, however, which will lead to obtaining Pangu's Axe (another invaluable tool). Before departing China, he visited the Special Merchant and took advantage of his newly acquired level 2 Visa, purchasing some Escape Dust, a skeleton key, and some Pemmican. Then he had to return to Sunset Valley.

Once again in Sunset Valley, Marco sent his extra metals to be smelted and the gems to be cut. He makes plenty of money from this and will be able to have almost anything he wants. He painted and practiced writing, and bought a weight machine. He's very content and comfortable in his little home. He also now has the Prepared Traveler and Never Dull Lifetime Happiness Rewards. He can stay even longer at the destinations, and his conversations will be more interesting. Specifically, he will be able to use the same interaction over and over without the other Sim getting bored or upset. When you know some of their traits and have those conversation options, the relationship status bar climbs twice as fast.

Back to Shang Simla! Marco quickly finished the series of adventures for Pangu's Axe and he now owns it. He will be able so smash any boulder, as well as clear rubble in one stroke. It's a mandatory tool for completing some of the tombs in all of the countries. The final tomb for the axe was a challenge for Marco. He got caught in several fire and steam traps. He was completely exhausted, as well, because there wasn't enough room to set up his tent. He passed out a couple of times, poor guy. Ultimately, the last room was blocked by rubble and he was too tired to clear it. He had to leave the tomb to get some sleep and try again later. After working his way through all the traps (again), he was able to get the final treasure and finish this adventure series. His next series of adventures are for Dong Huo's treasure, as the Sim Fu adventures still didn't come up. He may have to learn it on his own after all. He's a little over halfway to his level 3 Visa for China. Marco got a lot of treasure and ancient coins from completing the adventures for Dong Huo's treasure. He'll have a good bit of wealth when he returns home. He bought the Master Thief's Coin from the Special Merchant with his level 2 Visa status and the ancient coins he's found. Now he'll find even more ancient coins in the tombs he explores. And finally! The Sim Fu adventure came up, so Marco spent his last couple of days in China mostly at the Phoenix Martial Arts Academy. His Disciplined trait will come into play now. Marco just barely squeaked by with his level 3 Visa only 15 minutes before he was to leave Shang Simla to return home to Sunset Valley. He can still go back to China to finish these adventures and to visit his girlfriend and two kids, but as far as the Lifetime Wish is concerned, he's finished with China.

Marco is spending this time at home doing some more painting, admiring his growing collection of artifacts, and doing repairs to the house. Even without selling the collections, he has well over $50,000 in the bank. He's got plenty to modernize his modest little home. He has a love fling going on with Madison VanWatson which has resulted in a pregnancy. She's in a relationship with Jared Frio, so I'm not sure how that will work out for Marco. He's learning to fish and painting all day, and finding time to make friends in the evening. It's easy to make friends now because all he has to do is introduce himself to someone and they are instantly Marco's friend.

Well, I thought Marco was finished with China. Turns out that I neglected to purchase a training dummy and board breaker. It will be hard to master Martial Arts without them, so I sent him back to China for a 15 day trip. He visited his local girl and spent some time with his two kids. I discovered that there really are just no infants or toddlers in the foreign countries. When he returned home both times after Sun got pregnant, the kids were both Children instantly and they very quickly aged up to teens when he went back to Shang Simla. Marco himself isn't even an Adult yet! He took a photograph of each of them and put them on his dresser in his new vacation home. Marco also encountered a mummy in China, in the Tomb of the First Emperor. This time he easily defeated the mummy and it turned into dust at his feet, which he then cleaned up.

Back once more in Sunset Valley, Marco made himself a nice Koi pond with the fish he caught in China. He visited with friends, did some painting, and just relaxed before planning his next trip abroad. He's been holding onto a wish to earn a level 2 Visa in Egypt ever since his first trip over there early on, so that's where he will go next. If all goes well, he will soon be able to purchase a vacation home there, too, because the base camp leaves much to be desired. And will he find a romantic interest in Egypt? We shall see.
Marco earned his level 3 Visa very quickly after returning to Al Simhara. He met a lovely lady and spends time with her as her merchant schedule allows. He's been trying for a baby with her with no luck so far. She's always exhausted and puts him off, then she dashes off to work at 6:00 a.m. He's been pursuing the series of adventures about a love affair between Queen Hatshepsut and one of her consorts. He may not finish it because he's due to go home in 12 hours (after spending eight days in country) and there's still the matter of having a baby with his lady friend to see about. Marco accumulated enough wealth to purchase the Pomegranate House as his vacation home in Egypt. It really is a lovely house. He also had enough ancient coins to purchase the Tear of Horus (to see dig sites and relic locations, a Certificate of Partnership with Egypt, and the Sultan's Tabernacle so that he can now sleep like a king when he's adventuring.

Marco's break between travels was spent transforming gems and metals to increase his wealth so that he could hopefully purchase a vacation home in France soon. He bought the Collection Helper with his Lifetime Happiness points. The time for traveling to France came quickly and Marco booked a six day trip.
By the time Marco ventured to France, he had many wonderful Lifetime Happiness rewards and some awesome items from the Special Merchants. He was always in a super great mood and needed little sleep. He could find gems, metals, and relics with almost no effort. He had the opportunistic reward, as well, and his Visa points flew to level 3 with the easiest of adventures. No major tombs were explored. Mostly he ran around doing errands, fishing, and convincing Sims of this or that. Marco achieved his Lifetime Wish the day before he was due to leave France. He purchased that third vacation home (the Crocus House) and life is good.

Marco's final Lifetime Happiness Rewards (in no particular order):
Never Dull
Fast Learner
Discount Diner
Observant
Learned Relic Hunter
Jetsetter
Steel Bladder
Opportunistic
Prepared Traveler
No Bills Ever
Collection Helper
Meditative Trance Sleep
Complimentary Entertainment
Dirt Defiant
Marco wonders if maybe it's time to settle down with that special lady in Egypt. Maybe buy a bigger house and have a family. He's still an adult, so there's time. After taking his break at home, he plans to return to Egypt and propose to Afrikaisi. Wish him well.
