Skills
At the time of this writing, there are four skills to be found in The Sims Social. They are Art, Cooking, Music, and Writing. Each of these can become substantial money-generators, and will give you components you'll need to both craft items and finish quests. Each skill can go to at least level 50. Gaining a skill level will give Lifetime Points and access to new types of skill activities. You will need components such as Plans, Muses, etc. in order to unlock a new skill action.
Skill levels are gained by filling in the bars by doing jobs a set number of times. When it's filled, you'll get a skill level up, along with some Lifetime Points. The next type of job can be unlocked if you meet the level requirements and have the necessary components on hand.
Each skill object in The Sims Social has a selection of different jobs you can perform. For example, the writing jobs available on the computer and typewriter differ. So, you should purchase these other items as soon as they are available. If you get stuck and need components to unlock a new type of job, go to another kind that gives you progress. You can even turn to another skill. Writing sometimes needs muses which are given by painting, and plans given by cooking. You can determine ways you can get any items you need by hovering your mouse over them. An example is in the next screenshot.
Art
The art skill in Sims Social is first raised using an easel. You will eventually upgrade to another easel (level 10) and drafting table (15). At level 30, you can buy a computer for digital design. 42 is another drafting table.
Cooking
Cooking starts on the microwave. You can use this and the outdoor grill in order to unlock the coffee pot at level 10. An oven is available at level 15. The ultimate cooking item costs 15,000 social points and has no skill requirement.
Music
Guitars and pianos can be used to raise your Sim's music skill. As with the others, you'll get new skill objects as you level. The level 42 objectis an organ.
Writing
Writing begins on the computer, but you'll soon want a typewriter. The level 15 upgrade is a better computer. 30 provides another typewriter, while the level 42 upgrade is an ancient word processor.
