Hiring and managing your staff and their shifts is essential to running your Resort. Thankfully, their wages are not so high that they will drastically reduce your profit. You can assign uniforms by clicking the front desk, workers themselves, or the stands they operate. The game gives you a selection, or you can customize your own unique uniform for the staff. Here are some of the workers you can hire at your resort:
- Front Desk Clerk - checks in/out guests and sells mosquito spray for $80 that will repel the little buggers. Day/Afternoon shifts are $25 and Graveyard shift $50 - I recommend you leave them on 24/7 so that guests can check in any time they want.
- Food Stand Worker - Serves food from the food carts available. Again, you can set their hours though Graveyard shift is less important here though it may please Night Owls who visit your Resort.
- Mixologist - For owners of Late Night, you can put a Mixology Bar on the ground and hire a regular Mixologist. EA threw a bone to players without Late Night and provide the Pool Bar. It's expensive, at $4000 but you can hire a Mixologist to work it without the Late Night Expansion. I'd run these guys 24/7 so guests can get a drink whenever they want.
Pool Bars in Buy Mode
Go to Buy Mode, Sort by Function and use the little arrow to reach the Resorts tab if necessary. The Pool Bar is the last item in the list and costs a whopping $4100. For Late Night owners, it's much cheaper to get a bar started on land with one of the Mixology Bars.
Maintenance Workers

Maintenance workers are essential to the running of your Resort as things will break
and get dirty as Sims use them, especially those popular
objects like All-in-One Bathrooms. The game is also coded to
drop trash on the ground here and there, and Sims will leave
dishes. Hiring maintenance appropriate to your Resort size is
wise, but I would stick with only the medium or high cost
maintenance worker and maybe supplement with a cheap one or
two. That way you are guaranteed to get some work out of them
each day, as the low grade workers have a high chance of
goofing off and skipping their work, leaving your Resort in
nasty condition. The game will not have them all working at
once, so that you can get some good coverage. Here is a
comparison of the maintenance workers and their handiness
levels. You can do yourself a favor by using your own Sim to
learn Handiness and go about making toilets, sinks, and hot
tubs unbreakable so Maintenance can focus on cleaning and
unclogging toilets.
| Rank | Cost/day | Handiness Lvl | Works | Goof Off Chance |
| Low | $25 | 2-5 | 2 hours | 30% chance of goofing off all 2 hours |
| Medium | $50 | 5-8 | 4 hours | 15% chance of goofing off for 1 hour |
| High | $100 | 8-10 | 6 hours | 2% chance of goofing off 30 minutes |

Then make sure you get your sim to repair all the plumbing equipment when it breaks, you will soon get the Plumber Challenge done, and then you only have to repair everything once again and they are all unbreakable. Only thing that ever breaks then is the TV's, and only dirt is surfaces and trash piles. This makes for a much more smooth running resort.
