The Sims 3 Ambitions
Fashion Phenomenon Lifetime Wish Walkthrough

by Pam Marsden

Meet Debbie and Richard Bilderback.

Debbie's traits:

Artistic
This trait will give Debbie the edge in designing new fashions for her clients, as her Painting Skill will rise fast.

Charismatic
Debbie will be able to easily make friends and talk to potential clients, making them more at ease with her and thus allowing makeovers more often. Her Charisma Skill will rise faster thanks to this trait.

Born Saleswoman
This is new with the Ambitions Expansion Pack. It will give Debbie an advantage when selling paintings at the Consignment Shop and, hopefully, will also help her gain clients when she solicits her stylist services.

Dramatic
This trait is also new with Ambitions. I doubt it will help Debbie in her profession, but it should make things a little more interesting.

Eco-Friendly
Another new trait with Ambitions that won't do anything specifically for Debbie's profession, but saving the planet is always a good idea.

Richard has the typical utility traits of Handy, Natural Cook, Angler, Green Thumb, and Neat.

Debbie is fresh out of beauty school and heard rumors that Twinbrook is the place to be if someone wants to make a living as a Stylist. Hmmm. Why would anyone say something odd like that? At any rate, Debbie and her new husband, Richard, moved to town so that Debbie could start her new career. Richard agreed to be a stay-at-home husband and take care of all things domestic while Debbie focuses on working her way up the Fashion ladder.

They bought a small unfurnished home at 39 Sweetwater Loop and spent the bulk of their remaining funds on furniture. Along with the basics, Debbie needs a drafting table for her fashion research and painting. I included an upgraded shower and refrigerator to avoid some unnecessary negative moodlets. The loveseat has just enough room for Debbie and Richard to cuddle and watch television at the end of the day.

After spending a couple of days getting used to the new town, learning Charisma at the library, and researching fashion design at home on her new drafting table, Debbie found the position of Fashion Fledgling (level 1 in the Stylist profession) in the newspaper. Richard started on his Gardening and Cooking skills, and registered at City Hall as a self-employed Gardener. Debbie works Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a weekly stipend of $182 per week. The responsibilities for this position are Styling, Earnings, and Portfolio. These will increase Debbie's job experience and lead to promotions and raises.

Debbie's first couple of days at the salon were fairly routine. When clients come into the shop, she introduces herself and gets to know them a little. She gets around to discussing fashion and offers a makeover. Sometimes the clients know exactly what they want and sometimes Debbie is able to just try anything. A few were pleased enough that they let her take a photo for her portfolio. Between customers, she talks to her co-workers or reads a book. Business at the salon isn't exactly booming.

Debbie quickly discovered that she hates riding to work in a taxi. She's an eco-friendly Sim and that's just too much of a waste of natural resources. She bought a bicycle and now pedals her way to work every morning. She also had a wish for a recycle bin. Thankfully, they aren't expensive and she could afford to buy one. Money is tight at the Bilderback house. Beginner Stylists and Gardeners don't make much and can only barely keep the bills paid.

A promotion to level 2 Taffeta Trainee came on the evening of week 1, day 4 while Debbie was working on a sketch at home. Her weekly stipend increased to $240 per week and her work hours stayed the same. After finishing the sketch, she put it in her portfolio with the other two she's finished. I seem to have a bug in this game because the sketches don't increase the completion percentage of the portfolio like they're supposed to. (Note: I'm not certain if the sketches are supposed to help with the completed percentage. Will update as needed.)

On a day when business was slow at the salon, Debbie took off early to teach art at the local school. She got a boost to her painting and charisma skills for doing this. This was also around the time that she had earned enough Lifetime Happiness Points to purchase her first reward: Observant. Now Debbie can learn more traits upon introduction to another Sim. Very handy when dealing with people on a daily basis.

It was only two days later that Debbie was promoted to level 3 Polka Dot Specialist with a weekly stipend of $298 per week. At this level, Debbie can do freestyle makeovers, which means she can solicit her Stylist services to Sims who don't already have appointments with her. These unique services will count toward the shots she puts in her portfolio, unlike the random makeovers she performs for extra tips.

While enjoying her first days off, Debbie spent a lot of time sketching on the drafting table. She was rewarded with yet another promotion to level 4 Houndstooth Soothsayer with a weekly stipend of $444 per week and the same work hours. I also bought Debbie's second Lifetime Happiness Reward: Eye Candy. This will help her clients be in better moods and thus causing the makeovers to be more successful. Maybe even bigger tips!

Debbie now travels to her clients' homes for their makeovers, pedaling her bicycle all over town. There's no longer a need to go to the salon. Between her scheduled appointments for the day and drumming up new clients on her own, Debbie stays quite busy for the whole work day. After styling her 10th client, Debbie received the Stylist Trophy from City Hall. It's proudly on display in the rather drab living room.

On week 2, day 4, Debbie got promoted to level 5 Trendsetter in Training. Her weekly stipend rose to $458 per week and her work hours have stayed the same throughout all the levels. To celebrate her promotion, Debbie had a wish for a music box. She wanted one with a pretty ballerina, but could only find an odd gnome music box.

Now that Debbie has to travel around town for her clients, she needs something a little faster than her bike, but she still hates driving a car alone. Such a waste! What to do? Of course! The Beast is the answer! So, Debbie bought herself a purple hog and rides it everywhere. She doesn't get the positive moodlet of the bike, but at least she doesn't get the negative one from a car. The extra speed is worth it. Plus, it's super awesome cool!

Her next Lifetime Happiness Reward was Professional Simolean Booster. With this LTR, Debbie will make more money from her work. Slowly but surely, she and Richard are starting to live a little more comfortably. She was able to pay cash for The Beast and it won't take her long to put the money back in the bank from her Stylist jobs.

On the evening of week 2, day 5, Debbie again got a promotion while working on her fashion sketches. She's now earning a stipend of $840 per week with the same hours. Her portfolio is only at 25% because of the bug with the sketches, but it doesn't seem to be holding her back. Unfortunately, on the same night of her promotion, Debbie and Richard had a burglar. They both called the police, who was just barely in time to catch the thief. Once the burglar was in handcuffs, Debbie happily gave some fashion advice to the police officer and he hauled the crook to jail in his spiffy new clothes.

While at a client's house the next day, Debbie met a real live Rock Star! She gushed and worshiped like a true star struck fan. After chatting him up a little, she gathered her nerve and solicited her Stylist Services. When he accepted, Debbie was sure that she would become famous overnight for styling DeAndre Wolf, but he only wanted shoes. Shoes! So, she put new shoes on him. Just shoes. She did manage some fashion advice for him, but that won't make her famous.

Debbie got her promotion to level 7 Haute Hot Shot on week 3, day 1. Weekly stipend went up to $1,180 per week and her work hours remained unchanged. At this point, Debbie and Richard were doing fairly well financially, so Debbie added a room to their house for a private salon station. Now she can invite friends to the house and solicit them for makeovers, or even have makeover parties with several guests.

Yet another promotion came at week 3, day 5. Debbie is now level 8 Couture Connoisseur making a $1,572 per week stipend. Same hours, of course. Her portfolio is only 37% complete. I spent 10,000 Lifetime Happiness points to purchase Debbie the Entrepreneurial Mindset Lifetime Happiness Reward. With this reward, Debbie will gain job experience faster and will make the climb to the top of her levels quicker. This will be of great as these last two levels will try to drag on. The higher the level, the more job experience it takes to reach the next level.

The Bilderbacks needed a little vacation by this time, so they took a three day trip to China. They bought cook books and a piece of Fluourite. They did a couple of adventures and collected metals to bring some money into the household finances. Once they returned home, some of the money was spent to enlarge the dining room and buy a Chinese themed dining table to replace the rickety little bistro table and lawn chairs. And because Debbie's portfolio doesn't count her sketches, she put them all over the wall of her small studio. Add a couple of her paintings on the living room walls, and it's starting to look like a real home.

Now with a Makeover Station in her home, Debbie spent one of her workdays hosting two parties. While her guests enjoyed music, dancing, and food, Debbie worked her magic and solicited her Stylist services to those who were interested. She didn't necessarily do any better than she would have with her regular appointments, but it was great fun and a good way to change things up a bit.

On week 4, day 2 (again while sketching at home in the evening after work), Debbie reached level 9 Fashionista with a $1,622 per week stipend. Same workdays and hours. Her Charisma skill reached level 10 and she was able to have great chats with her clients and prospects. It became more and more important to know the clients and pay attention to what they want. Otherwise, progress can slow to a crawl. Not a problem for Debbie, though, as she had only one unhappy customer in this last part of her journey.

The last Lifetime Happiness Reward I bought for Debbie was the No Bills Ever for 15,000 points. Money from her Stylist business is coming in steadily at well over $1,000 per day. Things were going so well that she bought Richard his very own Beast so they could ride off together because on week 4, day 6, Debbie reached level 10 Fashion Phenomenon with a very nice weekly stipend of $2,767. Happy trails, you two!

Dedicated in loving memory to the real Debbie Bilderback. Rest in peace, my friend.
