The Sims 3 Into the Future allows you to alter the Future World of Oasis Landing by changing your Sim's condition in the present to allow for a wealthier or larger family in the Future. This Guide will help you to control the destiny of your Descendants and help them to live better lives or craft your own Sim around the idea of your perfect future. Befriending them will give you a great place to stay while in the Future (if they're wealthy) and extra friends to socialize with. You may even ask your Descendants to move in with you in your own Future home. Romantic interactions are disabled for Descendants, they are treated as family.
If you head to the Future and meet a Descendant you really like, your Sim can bring them back in time by moving the Sim in with you. When you travel back to the Past, that Sim and any others in your Active Household will come. This can protect a Sim from death from any changes to the Timeline. Your Sim will weep for Sims lost this way if they were a good friend, upon visiting the Future to find them gone. This Guide will help you prevent that happening or change it if you like.

The Descendant Tab on Almanac of Time
You can use the Almanac of Time near your Sim's cell phone in the Inventory to view your Descendants at any time. You will be notified when there is a big change, such as where they live or the Sims that will be born with the Timeline in its current state. You are able to view each Sim's Descendants' names, the family's wealth, and a rating of how large the family has grown.
When you are visiting the Future, you will be informed where each individual Sim has Descendants living. With that Sim selected, the map tag showing the home you can visit will be visible. Click the tag to go and interact with your Future Family, learn about them and see how they're living.

The Descendant System: How it Works
Traits and cash on hand are the two factors that affect a Sim's Descendants. Single Sims will have their own Descendants (or none), based on Traits and that Family's Funds. Certain Traits will affect a score that determines Family Size for Descendants, from 0-8 Sims of varying Ages, and multipliers that take cash on hand to determine a Sim's success from the point they visit the Future, to the traits they will pass on to Descendants. Married Sims will share Descendants together and combine the two scores to get the Trait Score and Descendant Family Value. Your Sim's Descendants may have different surnames depending on Marriages that happen over the decades.
Your Sims' lot value is not included when determining the financial state of your Descendants. You can look at it this way - any money unspent is like a savings account that will be passed down to others in the Future. If you leave with $1, expect your future Family to be poor. If you visit Oasis Landing with over $100,000 and some good traits, your Sims will be wealthier and the number of Descendants greater.

Adding a Friend to your household, getting married, having a baby, or having a Mid-Life Crisis and swapping out one of your Sim's traits will likely change the Timeline and the fate of your Descendants. You can use the table below to help you learn about the Traits you might want to select to affect the Future.
Descendant Family Values
Here is a list of how Sims' Descendants Wealth is classified, based on your current cash on hand. This number fluctuates as your Sim earns money and buys items for the household. Saving up, you can make it all the way to Filthy Rich and Mother Lode. With this system, you will experience your Sim's family in various economic states:
| Destitute: $5000 | Poor: $10,000 | Ostensibly Poor: $20,000 | Working Class: $40,000 | Fortunate: $80,000 |
| Affluent: $160,000 | Wealthy: $320,000 | Prosperous: $640,000 | Filthy Rich: $1.2 Million | Mother Lode: $2.36 Million |

Descendant Homes
Throughout this Guide, I have pictured various homes Descendants may live in. It seems quite random, as you may change Family Size alone with no financial difference and see them living in an entirely different home. The Future changes very often, and it's hard telling just what home your Sims' Descendants will live in. Thankfully, it is based on your Family Funds, so if you have more cash on hand, or traits that help multiply that money, they will live in a better home.
There are four tiers of houses, reached upon cash on hand plus Trait Multipliers (see below) which determine the quality of home your Descendants will live in - from a small cottage, which could be cramped with 8 Descendants, to a large mansion with just a few. The income levels you must reach for better houses are 150k, 200k, 300k, and 400k - after that, homes don't seem to get better and are randomly selected from one of the bigger homes around. There is more to it, I'm sure.. but this is a good general guideline.
Traits, Lifetime Rewards and Descendant Family Size
A Sim or Married Couple's Traits are all added up to result in a number of Descendants, based on trait Scores. Certain Lifetime Rewards will also affect this, along with a few extra factors you can find beneath the table. All Sims start at 0, which will result in a 4-Descendant family. The following Traits have been found to affect this score. So, if you have a Sim with Family Oriented and Nurturing, you've already got a score of 3000 and would have 8 Descendants. If a married couple each had one of those Traits, the result would be the same. Sims with negative scores totaling less than -3000 will arrive to the Future to find their bloodline has ceased and they have no Descendants.
| Descendants | 0 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 |
| Score | -3000 | -2000 | -1000 | -500 | 0 | 500 | 1000 | 2000 | 3000 |
A married couple can easily have a couple of the following traits each and reach 500 or 1,000 but Sims will need Nurturing/Family Oriented or more of these to get to 3,000 total assuming no negative Traits are present. Here's the list of Traits that influence Score:

| Traits that Raise Score | Traits that Lower Score | LTRs that Impact Score |
| Brave: +250 | Absent Minded: -250 | Attractive: +500 |
| Charismatic: +250 | Childish: -250 | Carefree: +250 |
| Disciplined: +250 | Commitment Issues: -1500 | Engaging: +250 |
| Dramatic: +250 | Coward: -250 | Excellent Groupie: +250 |
| Family-Oriented: +1500 | Daredevil: -250 | Eye Candy: +250 |
| Flirty: +250 | Dislikes Children: -1000 | Fast Metabolism: +250 |
| Friendly: +250 | Diva: -500 | Fertility Treatment: +250 |
| Great Kisser: +250 | Grumpy: -500 | Jock Influence: +250 |
| Hopeless Romantic: +500 | Hot-Headed: -500 | Master of Seduction: +500 |
| Irresistible: +500 | Inappropriate: -250 | My Best Friend: +250 |
| Lucky: +250 | Insane: -250 | No Jealousy: +250 |
| Nurturing: +1500 | Loner: -500 | Observant: +250 |
| Party Animal: +250 | Mean-Spirited: -500 | Raised by Wolves: +250 |
| Perceptive: +250 | Shy: -250 | Young Again: +250 |
| Social Butterfly: +500 | Snob: -250 | |
| Socially Awkward: -250 | ||
| Unflirty: -500 | ||
| Unlucky: -500 | ||
| Workaholic: -250 | ||
You can see for yourself by adding and subtracting each trait on your Sim or couple to get the score - the outcome will dictate your Descendants, barring any bugs. I've done plenty of gameplay testing on this.
Traits, Descendant Family Wealth and Home Quality

Certain traits put a multiplier on your Descendants' family wealth rating, which will help determine what house they live in and the Family Funds available to them. The following traits increase or decrease the amount of cash on hand by a multiplier. Add up any traits you have and if you have enough of a multiplier, your family may reach one of the really high income ratings listed above and qualify for a better house.
You can add all the multipliers your Sim or Married Couple have to determine the final multiplier, whip out your calculator and multiply the cash on hand to determine the Wealth Rating and the level of Home each Sim or Couple's Descendants are eligible to live in.
For the mathematically challenged, 0.5 is a 50% increase - so 50k becomes 75k. A Sim with Ambitious and Frugal literally does get 10x the cash on hand for their Descendants, so it's very easy to see wealthy Descendants if you have either of those traits, along with a few others here. You'll note a LTR column as well - taking various LTRs will increase your Sim's multiplier. I have left off those less than +0.25, as many were +10% and that is a negligible increase compared to the others. I didn't want the already large table to be even longer.

| Adventurous: 0.5 | Absent-Minded: -1.5 | Animal Expert: .5 |

Mary had a romantic relationship with one of Susan's descendants and engineered a baby. I'm curious what happens when Susan dies w/o children because she's dating a Plumbot.

Good link lol :)
Currently, my household have slightly more than 2000$ at hand and one of my couples have the virtuoso, lucky, savy sculptor and genius trait. If the wealth is not divided, it should make their descendants poor right? but they are destitute...
Like, one batch had her son's blonde hair and chin forms, and the others were green like her plant sim daughter XDIt's probably worth investigating wether sims with children end up with one household per kid or something. In any case, multiple households may be related to having multiple kids.
So if you own multiple venues like the hospital but have no cash you'll still have rich descendants more or less.
Maybe when you own venues you are indirectly boosting the "cash on hand" since it's a long-term investment? Perhaps the cost of ownership goes to that? I am unsure of the effect of ownership otherwise.
In a cooler house,My family (Brandon & Jennifer) won the
1.000.000 simoleon prize on lotto and makes changes to my descendants Worth to mother lode.and when I go to
The future my descendants are living in 538 parkway,far away from city,I wonder if there's amyway to make them move to richer housesThanks for the answer :)
Do I have to take all 3 of them 'home' while I do the utopian/dystopian stuff for Mike's LTW?
my sim had almost 15k (she had just started getting more money) when she went to the future, and her descendants (two women) lived in a pretty nice place, it looked like Cordial Cort, I think. she didn't even had a boyfriend.
but then on another save I had a couple (they just had a daughter), and had 60k simoleons, and my descendants (2 men and a woman) lived in the middle of nowhere, and it looked like Precipice Parkway.
I just don't understand how in one save where my Sims started having children, were 5 stars celebrities and started making good money had poor descendants, and in another save, my Sim lived with her pet dog, had no friends, had not even 15k and had "rich" descendants. '-'
